Reviews for Tawabel restaurant in The Bronx, NY
I'm all about hidden gems where the food is fresh, tasty and delicious without compromising excellent customer service. This... unassuming culinary establishment checks off all these markers and then some. Their falafel balls are crispy And moist! Themeats are tasty and delicious. If you find yourself at the last stop of the #1 train in the Bronx or by Vancortlandt Park stopby...have a bite you will not be disappointed. Read more
The meat shawarma sandwich is very good and would be the only thing I'd recommend. The meat is tender and flavorful and laffa it... is wrapped in is delicious. Otherwise, food is overpriced and not well made. I've had the chicken shawarma and it was okay, butnot great. I paid 26 dollars for the mixed grill, I was imagining a decent sized side salad and a decent amount of meat, butinstead got a small salad and the pieces of meat were very small. Kofta was okay and chicken was dry because it was completelyblack and burnt. It was mediocre at best for middle eastern food and I have paid that much at middle eastern restaurants foralmost double the amount of food and far better quality. The WORST part of this experience was that they do not have a number tocall for feedback. I would have called to see if this was just an off day, but rather am left reviewing on google. Not sure howreviews are so high, perhaps it is mainly for the shawarma, which as mentioned, is delicious. Read more
Very disappointed with the food and service. Not worth the money. It's obvious all reviews are friends and family. Here is... the truth! We ordered the Lamb kabab sandwiches and baklava. For two small dried pieces of baklava $5! See pictures We askedthat they not put the sauce on the sandwich because of allergies but they put anyway. Had to throw the sandwich away or getsick. The wrap was dry and fell apart but parts of it was soggy from the sauce. The woman at the cash register was rude. Ifyou are unhappy, Don't come to work, she was probably the wife. It's a new business opened a few weeks ago. Read more
We ordered the falafel sandwich. So good. The bread was fresh, the toppings were great and in the perfect quantity. Falafel was... soft but not gluey. We will definitely be stopping by on our way to Van Cortlandt Park more often. So excited to have them inthe neighborhood! Read more
First I walked in this establishment in the evening time small spot. My impression was indeed this must be the first day of... being open. The guys were welcoming, the place was packed, and it looked like the customers that were seated dinning in wasenjoying there meals.I asked for the menu and was quickly offered a simple of one of the dishes they were promoting afterreceiving the menu.I did not see a restroom;however was told they have one available in the back. I then ordered some food togo and the wait was at bit long due to the freshness and the traffic which I was not bothered by. The food taste fresh and good, will return to see if it can stay consistent. Read more
I waited for months, like a lot of others, for Tawabel to open. On this establishment's 2nd day of its grand opening, I ordered... the chicken shawarma for my husband. My husband who is *Not* easily impressed said, "This is good. This is really good." I can'twait to try it! Keep in mind that this is not fast food. I didn't wait long but also, I was not in a rush. If you're in a rush, order ahead if possible. Thank you Muhammad and Muhammad. You both were simply pleasant and engaging. Read more

Wonderful place: great food, convenient location, and friendly staff. This was my first visit and I felt like family. Very... "international" - when I was there, there were people from Egypt, Syria, Georgia, Mongolia, Pakistan, and the USA. How do Iknow? Because of the friendly atmosphere, people were talking about how diverse NYC is.... The food is tasty, fresh, andhealthy. Try a kebab platter with salad, sit in the bay window, and enjoy the passing scene, the conversation, and your lunch! Read more
