Our first time here and it was a wonderful experience!???? We were shopping at Nebraska Furniture Mart and were hungry... afterwards so we decided to try Abuelo's and it did not disappoint! The service was phenomenal! Our server, I'm so sorry I can'tremember her name, maybe Claudia?, She was incredibly nice, funny, prompt with service, refilling drinks, napkins, bringing ourfood, etc. Unfortunately in this day and age, kind and prompt servers are dwindling so to have such a wonderful experience withher was a breath of fresh air. The bathrooms were very clean as well. The food! The food was so delicious! The chicken, which Ialways find to be a little dry at most Mexican restaurants, was surprisingly tender and moist ;-) The shrimp had it's own uniquebbq sauce that set my taste buds on their own spicy and sweet journey :) The guacamole appetizer tasted fresh and the chips andsalsa that you get were delicious and a great variety. You had the spicy salsa, your traditional table restaurant salsa and anice sweet, with a little bit of citrus thrown in there verde salsa. Over all a wonderful first time at Abuelo's :) Read more
This was our 1st time. Place had a good ambience. I gave 4 stars because the food that we ordered was a little salty. We tried... the house speciality Tilapia in spicy sauce and shrimp chicken stuffed pepper dish. Their Flan was a good try! Read more
Only giving 2 stars because the waitress provided good service and the decor was nice. Other than that there are no redeeming... qualities about the actual food. This was my 2nd time going in about 3yrs as i like to give places a 2nd chance. The food hadonly changed for the worse. There were no Mexican people eating here, which should be the 1st red flag. The sauce that wasbrought ranged from mediocre to bad. The main course was completely over priced, especially considering the lack of quality andflavor, even the rice and beans left everything to be desired. Like how badly can you mess up rice and beans? I could neverjustify ever going back here again. This restaurant is a stain on the Mexican Cuisine. I am not sure how this place has 4.4stars, clearly the dangers of having people that didn't grow up eating proper Mexican food be able to rate Mexican food. Read more
Excellent service by Nick and the manager on duty. Combo beef and chicken Fajitas were very good. Pork Tenderloin Abrigada was... fabulous. El Jefe margaritas were also excellent. Very quiet there on this Monday early evening, but this Abuelo's continuesto be a gem. Read more
Almost A+++ , More Like B+ Still great. Site guide review: Dined here on Jan 22. Quickly sat, but place was definitely... cranking. Advise you get here prior to 6 pm or there may be a wait on a saturday night. Server seemed to have too manytables, was not only waiting on people, but she was also cleaning her own tables. The result was slower than usual service, definitely not her fault. Bree was our server, she was a great waitress. Started off with drinks, wife had sangria ( toomuch ice, barely any sangria but still great). I had a frozen sangria. Was amazing. We had the dip sampler (in photo). had3 types of dips. Queso, bean and cheese mixture and guacamole . This was good however chips were not fresh and because of theservice it took a while for the refill. Wife ordered the enchilada platter. Amazing food, always hot and cooked very well. Iordered the chicken quesadilla's as I was not starving after the appetizer. The quesadilla was not good at all. The meatinside was over marinated and pretty much inedible. This is where you lost the star. Was almost like little tiny weirdcrumbles of chicken, Like you ran out of chicken and just put shavings in. very odd but not the end of the world. Excellent service and extremely accommodating management as well. The servers and management are well informed on their... menu/offerings (both food and beverage), so ask them for their recommendations and input if you can. Read more
