The positive side of our visit was our server Dillon was very attentive. He exceeded expectations. The Range Rattlers appetizer... had good flavor but the jalapeños were tough. The Saltgrass Coronarita we ordered had the worst tequila I've ever tasted. Maincourse I had the Gulf Coast Steak and Shrimp. Steak was ordered medium but was more rare. The flavor of the steak was bland. Theshrimp was grilled and was the best part of the meal. The potato was cooked...nothing to get excited over. My husband had theRibs and Shrimp. He was very disappointed with the ribs. Tasted like the ribs were marinated in Vienna sausage juice. Thehighlight was the perfectly battered and fried shrimp. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our son's birthday. When we arrived at this establishment at 8:30 p.m., we asked if they... were still serving because they closed at 9:00 p.m. They responded with a "yes" and we were immediately seated. There were afew customers still dining. The first thing we were told by our waitress was they were out of bread. We ordered an appetizer.The fries were overly cooked. We received the main course dishes. The mashed potatoes were room temperature, the chopped beefsteak was not hot, the ribs had an inconsistent seasoning flavor, and they ran out of tea. My hamburger was not hot. For apractically empty restaurant, there was a lack of attentiveness to our table, such as drink refills, and not asking if we wantedany dessert. So what can I say about salt grass. It’s the McDonald’s of steak houses. When you order your Excited, but then your food... shows up and…….: see picture below. Those are supposed to be Brussels sprouts. The chicken fried steaks crust is soggy.Under cooked soggy. And to top it off I ordered a beer and had to tell them never mind we are through with our food we areleaving. This whole outing is just a total disappointment. Read more
This place seemed really good but it was not. The service started out great and they were pretty fast with bringing the stuff... out. But the food wasn’t that good. I got a medium steak and it was more rare than anything. And it would be okay but it waspretty empty so there focus should’ve really been on the food. The mashed potatoes were good and the shrimp. A really good old Texas Style steak house. The decore is very tastefully done in Western/Texas style. Full Bar area, Chloe is... thier head bartender. She was very nice and took the time to say hi and introduce herself even though we were not seated at thebar. Debbie is the General Manager and she took time to talk to us while we where here as well. The place was crowded when wearrived on Friday night but they still had tables available and everything was clean and well organized. Drinks were a littleslow in coming but they were seriously busy so I'm not faulting them for that. The wine bottle we had with dinner was excellentpaired with the Angus Top Sirloins we both had and the steak was perfectly cooked and super tender. Had a excellent wood grilledflavor.The shrimp was golden and perfect as well they obviously cycle thier oil early to keep everything fried light and airy,another high mark in my book..Rachel was our server and was friendly and attentive though the noise level of the crowd madecommunication a little challenging. But again it was Friday night in the middle of the dinner rush and the place was seriouslyhopping... They are hiring if any one is looking for a waiting position. The main thing I'm going to say is for the quality ofthe food which was really good the tab was about 25% less then I would have expected from a mid to high end Steak house. So ifyour looking for a great dinner and at what I would deem extremely reasonable prices this is where you should find yourselfdining in The Colony or the near surrounding area. They also had a very nice and expansive wine list to choose from another highmark as I find it difficult to really enjoy a great steak without pairing it with a good red wine Salt Grass has youcovered..
