Great food that is well seasoned and so tasty. The biscuits and gravy was very rich and unique. Barista was very welcoming and... confident (Flat White and Soy Latte) Kid friendly with a few toys for younger kids. Took our 11 month old and had great time. Nochanging table, but they said they hoped to soon. Read more

Absolutely love the atmosphere; lots of natural light, high ceilings, plants sporadically throughout the room giving a garden... like relaxation. Service is fantastic, and timely. And the food is amazing. Best biscuits I have ever had in my life, I'dhappily just buy them as is, or sub them for any other bred item on the menu. I'm legitimately obsessed. Coffee is fantastic andI'm a big fan of the house made honey-lavender flavour. They have a couple house made flavours as well as the usual expected. Read more

Sunday breakfast around 11am. Fitting since the business is in an old church! Really cool atmosphere and friendly staff. They... were clearly understaffed but that did not detract from our experience. The chicken & waffles and biscuits & gravy weredelicious and the portions were huge! We basically got four meals, plus coffee drinks for $30. The drip coffee was good andstrong, with free refills. I got the Cherry Hood, which is espresso, seltzer water, cherry syrup and whipped cream, which soundsreally weird but was super tasty. The bacon was perfectly cooked. Tried a bite of the breakfast burrito and french toast andthey were good, but not as good as what we ordered. Will def be going back the next time we are in The Dalles! Read more

The setting is lovely. I love repurposed buildings. The biscuits make this a place to come to twice. I loved the spicy drizzle... on the delicious avocado toast. The courtyard with shade and surrounded by honeysuckle was pleasant. The reason it is not 5stars was the very salty gravy, and my husband would normally have added plenty after tasting. Maybe it was a one off. Eitherway, we will go again. Read more

We had the very best time checking out the Riv. My kids and I stopped by just before close and they couldn?t have been more... gracious about letting us stay late and offered the full menu. Genuinely the best chicken and biscuits I?ve had in thenorthwest. The service was above and beyond, the atmosphere was so chic, and the food was easily the best I?ve had since movingto the gorge! We?ll be back many many times to our new favorite place. Read more

If coffee is your religion, you are in the right place ???? The Riv Cafe is such a cool spot. This refurbished old church... blends the cozy ambience of communal dinning with a modern coffee shop vibe. We relished the chance to get a few hours of workdone in the pews while sipping a good local roast and enjoying our lunch. Lots of plant-based options for our fellow vegans andflexiteriains. Free coffee refills were a win! They also have a good list of local teas and baked goods. We love a farm to tablefood concept and everything we tried tasted delicious. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff was attentive andvery friendly. Good street parking. Solid Wifi. They close at 2 pm though (November 2021) so plan accordingly. We wish wecould hang longer. It made such a great remote work spot! Read more

I was in the Dalles, OR for the labor day weekend and discovered this cafe. This is a gem of a place!! When I arrived, I?d have... easily missed this place if it wasn?t for the customers seated in the open area. After all, this cafe is housed in a remodeledchurch! Which is charming! Ah, it was rather dreamy! Since I decided to sit out in the open, it took me a while to figure outthat one needed to go in and order at the counter and then pick a table and wait for the dishes. On to the food! I wanted asimple breakfast and ended up getting the porridge. I loved it. Any restaurant that can make the most basic dishes yummy are thebest kind out there! And, The Riv cafe really served the best porridge that I?ve had so far! The cool porridge was deliciouslyrefreshing under a warm sun! ???? The drip coffee was fresh and yummy too! If you?re in the Columbia Gorge or around TheDalles, stop by here. You?ll not regret it! Personally, I?d consider making a little detour to stop by, if I?m around. ???? Read more

This cafe is incredible: great location, friendly staff, and delicious food. I stopped in here for brunch to have a quick bite... and really enjoyed the toast with jam and iced Americano. It was so good in fact, we stayed longer for an order of eggs BenedictFlorentine. The staff here were super nice and welcoming. Our orders came out surprisingly quickly, but most importantly thefood was fresh and well made. There is indoor and outdoor dining available. We sat outside in the stone courtyard since it wasa nice day. The finches and other small birds flitting around the trees and chirping made for a unique and charming atmosphere. To any reading, I would highly recommend this cafe. Read more
