Tldr: chocolate lave cake was the best thing ever, service is superb. Went there while we stayed at the hotel around May 2022.... It was very spacious, they spaced out the tables accordingly and you don't feel like you're constantly eavesdropping ppl'sconversations lol The service was superb. I forgot our waitress' name (i'm sorry :c) but she was super nice and friendly.Things might take a while to come out, but I think they were changing their menu around at the time too. The food at the timewas ok. Nothing special, but the chocolate lave cake took us by surprise! We literally came back the second time because wewanted to have it again. Read more

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant during our stay in Thunder Bay. The service and food was excellent. Marina was attentive... without being pushy. The chef came out and talked with us. We had the fish tacos and fish and chips. The desserts were awesome.Never had vegan cake before but will definitely have it again! Read more

Yum! Delicious fish with the airiest coating- fries were scrumptious, too. Salad was fresh. Sauces unique and tasty. Steak... sandwich was nothing special and needed more steak. Waiter (Nithan) was super attentive and helpful despite seeming understaffedand busy. They offered us a seat by the window overlooking the lake. A pleasant experience :) Read more

We tried Anchor and Ore for the first time yesterday. Beautiful restaurant, lovely view, friendly service. However I was... disappointed with the food and drink. Their paper menu was also a little misleading, not accurately describing the food in somecases. I asked for a sweet cocktail and was recommended the honey dew. All I could taste was lemon juice. Very sour and tart, super heavy on the lemon. For food we tried a few different things, starting with the calamari and fried shrimp and thewatermelon salad. Salad was light and refreshing, something interesting to try. Calamari itself was also good. However the menusays ?fried shrimp? and it turns out to be coconut shrimp. The restaurant is supposed to be known for their fish and chips andit was only okay, Ive had better in town (the Sal, prospector, etc) and I really did not enjoy the fish tacos. The menu says?pickerel, coleslaw, feta, pico and avocado crema.? No mention of the disgusting maple sauce they put on it. It was very sweetand overpowered the other flavours. Had I known that it came on the tacos, I would have asked for it to be removed. Overall, fora $100+ dinner I expected a lot better. Read more

Tried Anchor & Ore last night and had a great time! Our server was friendly, food was awesome, and atmosphere was great! I saw... mixed reviews before we went and was hesitant. That?s why I wanted to post this review! My pulled pork was awesome and saucy andthe watermelon salad is super summery and tasty. My partner had the elk burger and had to slow himself down from inhaling it.The fries were crispy, the drinks were lovely, go try it for yourself! Read more

Our teaching staff went here for our end of school celebration. There were about 15 of us. We arrived at 5:50, we had a... reservation for 6pm and did not get to leave until 9:45pm due to lack of service. Horrible service was given. We were leftwithout a waitress checking in on us for at least 45 minutes. Drinks were asked but not brought out for at least 30 minutes. Themanager was no where to be found to talk to. Nachos were cold and not fresh at all. We felt it was very under staffed. If youhave a big group that has reserved a time slot, at least go over as the manager and explain what is taking so long andapologize. Read more

I stopped by Thunder Bay this past weekend and had dinner with 2 friends at Anchor and Ore. The place is beautiful and spacious... and the service is friendly. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and each of them hit the spot! I also ordered a Ceasar andwas delicious. My favourite appetizers were the pork sliders, the leeks with bacon, and the calamari. We also had a key lime piefor dessert and it was spectacular - there are a lot of talented people working at the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit! Read more
