The food looks amazing but the taste is a different thing. My husband nor myself enjoyed our dinner. The fried chicken was dry... and not many choices for meat. My favorite thing they had was the ham. The service was good, the ladies were attentive. Somany desserts offered but the 2 I tried didn't have much flavor. I feel like it was a waste of money for us. First time in. The reviews we read were mixed. We were in the area for the Contoctin Wildlife Preserve. The fried chicken was... great. I'm a fried chicken fan! The pies were fine. Turkey Hill ice cream awesome. Chicken tenders were homemade. Surroundingswith the country store was cool. I saw burgers that looked yummy. Doing the buffet I had my share of chicken and pie (3 types).THE SIDES ON THE BUFFET WERE NOT GOOD. The mash potatoes were instant, cheese in Mac, and scallop potatoes was salty. Bakedbeans was lacking beans, runny with white beans. Peas and corn were fine. Sweet potatoes out of a can in syrup not appealing.Salad bar looked fresh. Ordering milkshakes was strange. We were told only vanilla or chocolate. The chocolate milkshake came ina 10 oz cup like all the drinks. I never have seen this for a milkshake. But when we ordered ice cream we had all kinds offlavors. I would have liked a mint chocolate chip milkshake. The server was a bit frazzled. We had to ask multiple times forthings. She responded "I have too many people speaking to me." We looked at each other shaking our heads because she was justwalking by us. My wife didn't eat a thing. One daughter had a salad, my other daughter had chicken tenders, tater tots, andfries. She didn't finish it She said the chicken was dry and the two sides were soggy with grease. It was just ok. Not sure about home cooking. Looks like any other buffet. Food was good, but average. Was pretty clean inside.
If you like low quality country style cooking this is the place for you. The great reviews tricked us into grabbing lunch. It... was absolutely the lowest quality buffet food I have ever eaten, worse than the Golden corral. The only positive thing was theservice was friendly and prompt. Not recommended for lunch. I love Mountain Gate. Look forward to my visit each year at my Family gathering. Food is delicious, they do an excellent job of... having buffet safe for everyone, and the staff is so friendly. They have a good selection for Vegans and they are Wheelchairaccessible. Don't miss out. Read more

We were with someone who had a walker and asked to be close to the food bars. They did accommodate our request with less than a... 5 minute wait.
