I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. Before we even stepped inside, the host abruptly blocked us and said this "wasn't... a pub" and that we needed to get food if we wanted to enter. He could have been polite about that policy, but instead took arude tone and treated us like troublemakers right off the bat. We were pretty surprised and offended. When I calmly said we'dhave been willing to have food, but wouldn't now that we'd been made to feel unwelcome, that set him off. He went on a crazytirade yelling at us in front of other customers and telling us how "delicate" we were for being so easily hurt. I was worriedhe would escalate even further, so we walked away. I'm truly shocked this place manages to stay open with such disrespectulfulservice. Never again. Read more

So happy we chose to eat here on our last night in Tofino! Our 3 boys got to try sushi for the first time and we sat on their... wonderful patio overlooking the water, mountains and Harbour! Even our dog was accomodated and the waitress made sure to bringher water right away! The Smiling Buddha (picture in review) and Hollywood North Roll were our favorites! This place should havea rating in the mid 4's (at least!!). You will see most of the bad reviews are about Ron, who is a wonderful person but puts upwith no nonsense! He was personable to my children, told me a bit about his story, and is a wonderful guy! Don't go with an egoand you will have an awesome experience! Read more
The decore was bland and outdated, and the food was mediocre for the price. Basically, only come here if you want sushi in... Tofino because it's the only sushi place available. Read more

Our annual trip always includes one very special night at Tough City Sushi. Well worth every penny and the fun experience and... incredible view!! We sit outside so our well mannered dog can sleep under the table. A courtesy we really appreciate. Note thatduring COVID they often can not accommodate take out as they are trying to serve those dining in quickly. I appreciate thatthoughtfulness as this helps the servers also make a living with tips on tables. Read more
We were in this evening after dinner at another place in town. We were seeking drinks and dessert. Upon entering we were asked... if we were eating , explained what we were after. Should have turned around and left then because we were told we have to orderfood ( which we did ) and we can?t just order coffee or tea because ? our server would hate us? also heard this repeated toanother table. Upon leaving he asks ? are you leaving ? oh good !? I believe this was the owner, Ron.The place wasn?t full, weweren?t taking up a table that could have went to a bigger party or someone ordering more food. An absolute shame because theview was spectacular, the service was good and the dessert that we did have was lovely. Read more
