My friend & I go there every couple of months or so and are absolutely addicted to their garbage salad. It is SO good, and SO... filling. But this is the 2nd or 3rd time that we found the restaurant overly chilly. My friend put on a heavy sweatshirt zip-upand was still cold. Saw lots of folks rubbing their arms trying to warm them up. Won't keep us from going, but I'm taking ajacket next time - even when it's hot outside. Read more

So, this is my favorite place for salad when visiting my friend in Toledo. However, the last time we visited, the lettuce was a... little wilted, the chicken dry and, they didn't "mix it" like they usually do. Everything was just plopped on the lettuce andthe salad undressed. I usually like the dressing on the side, but it was difficult to "toss" the salad in the little bowl beforeI added the dressing. So let's start off by saying this is my first time at grumpys the staff was great the vegan veggie was great the salad was a... salad not Manny dressing options for vegans buy hey you win some you loose some. So I came in to grumpys for a quick bite, Ithought the place was nice so I decided to dine in I order every single vegan item off the menu(I tend to believe I'm atraveling vegan food critic) so again I'm eating and from one plate to another I get to the VEGAN impossible burger. I talked toeveryone here so I stopped a random worker and told them that the burger was under cooked and could it be remade to go because Ihad finished everything else the worker told me no it's vegan it's suppose to be like that and that's cooked more than what weusually cook them so no. So I ask for a manager and she says to me No I'm the owner(CASSIE) nice to meet you ( had to ask theother employees her name cusbshe never gave it) I'm like I've been vegan over 7 years and thats not done she then says well wenot remaking it we can take that one and put it back on the grill and that's it. I usually don't do bad reviews but it wasimperative that I publicly share this experience. I wish nothing but luck to any business owner but that by far was the worstexperience I've had in years. I really wish this was social media so I could tagged the city's health inspector. The food at Grumpy?s is always great, but the serving/kitchen staff needs to take their time a bit more to read the orders. Two... times in a row now they?ve forgotten an extra side that I paid for, and not made substitutions for the items that I?ve ordered.Again the food is always wonderful, but for the high price I expect my food to be right at least most of the time. Grumpy?s had an excellent vegan selection?BLT, chili dog, sweet potato burger, cheese, macaroni Salad, Jack fruit chicken. I... ordered the chili dog?it was delicious! I loved the sauerkraut. The service was friendly and prompt. We even got a complimentarycookie for visiting for the first time.
