Kalbi was a bit salty but tasty nonetheless. Besides kalbi everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. Portions are small but... fills your soul. Surprised that this place exists in Toledo. Read more

Authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in downtown Toledo. One of the best in the midwest!! Pictured: hamachi, otoro, uni,... negihama, negitoro and yakitori. Our other favorites included wagyu and madai nigiri. We couldn?t rsvp chef?s omakase because itwas full on a Tuesday night. Friendly service. Wish miso soup and green tea was on par with everything else. Convenient meterparking on the same street. Read more

I've been waiting to try this place, but never had the chance when passing thru the area from Columbus. We arrived at 17:05, and... already were on a 2hour waitlist, but it was well worth it! Their wait estimate was spot on, by the way! For 6 of us, they said2-2.5hours, and we received notice that our table was ready in 2hrs 5min! The service was fantastic - friendly and quick!Everything was fresh, flavorful, perfect texture and temp, and perfect size to try a bit of almost everything as a group. Thenigiri portions were generous cuts of fresh fish, and the salmon and tuna just melts in your mouth. Next time I am in town, Iwill be sure to exercise the little trick to make sure we get a seat right at open timing ???? Read more

My boyfriend and I recently did the Omakase for my birthday and wow!! This was our first time here and our meal was an... incredible experience. Every course was fantastic and fresh. Our server was attentive without being over bearing, and Chef Kengoclearly knows how to create a dish from ingredients that compliment each other perfectly. I think Kengo?s Omakase is somethingevery sushi fanatic needs to put on their bucket list. We both agreed the bluefin tuna was the most incredible slice of raw fisheither of us have ever had! Last night my boyfriend and I went to Kengo for the second time. We did Omakase (Chef?s Tasting). I can?t even begin to describe... how amazing our meal (and service) was. It?s hard to find GOOD food in Northwest Ohio, but this place is truly a gem. I forgotto take a picture of one of the courses, and Chef Kengo overheard me, and made another piece for my boyfriend to eat once I tookthe picture. Thank you to Chef Kengo and all the staff for making my boyfriend?s birthday special! Read more

OMG! One if not the best sushi I have ever had! I've been to NY, Hawaii, Seattle, LA, and had sushi and I tell you, this place... is special! Their specialty is nigiri and sashimi. They way they prepare the fish is outstanding. You can taste the essence ofthe fish and all it has to offer. There was not a piece I was disappointed in. All was amazing!! Small cozy place. Feels like alittle place you would find in NY, but just right here in lil old Toledo. I freakin love it!! Go there, add your name to thefront door waiting list. Grab a beer next door and wait for your table. It will be so worth the wait. Best part is you don'thave to go to a swanky town to eat the best sushi in the country. Read more

Wow what an experience! The fun started from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the traditional Japanese welcome from... the crew. They were loud and brought a certain energy to the restaurant. Expect a wait if you don?t reserve a table during peaktimes. The place is small but it plays a crucial part to the experience. The right space and limited seating really adds to thequality of Kengo. There is a reason why Kengo can keep the rent when the seating is so limited, and it?s because of the qualityof the sushi and other foods served here. Also expect to pay a higher price for this quality of fresh fish for an inland market. We were a company of 3 our check came to almost $250. Highly recommend pork belly! It was so good we ordered it again. The staffis very friendly and knowledgeable, they can even speak Japanese and they seem to love the culture as well. Next time I wouldreally love to sit with the chefs and have them serve me, that experience is $98 per person. Great restaurant, great food, greatstaff, and a great place to impress your date.
