The only reason I gave this place 5 stars is because it won't allow me to put a 6th! First time here, we walked in and were... welcomed by the most pleasant staff. The crew here performs at such a level that this small block does not contain enough roomfor me to properly praise them. Can't believe I haven't been here until now. I pass by a lot, but just thought it was another chain. Today, my 5-year old wanted... to try it. What a pleasant surprise! Tilapia sandwich with truffle fries, and a grasshopper concrete to finish. The tilapia wasa very generous portion of fish, battered crispy and fried hot, juicy, and with a flaky delicious texture. It's topped with ahomemade slaw and sandwiches between toasted buttery buns. This isn't your normal fast food fish sandwich. The owner was veryproud of this sandwich, as she should be. The truffle fries were good, but weren't the best I've had. They are a nice change inpace from regular fries, for sure. Truffle flavor is subtle, but there. They're lightly seasoned, and I think most people willenjoy them. I personally prefer more salt, but my tastes are saltier than most. So take my opinion... With a grain of salt. TheBurger Stand in Lawrence is where I've enjoyed truffle fries the most. We have one in Topeka, which comes pretty close. Thegrasshopper concrete was so good! The ice cream was the perfect temperature for enjoying right away. There's the right amount ofmint flavor, the crisp Oreo cookies, and bits of chocolate that makes this an easy dessert to enjoy. We were very impressed atthis place. The owner and staff were very polite and attentive. We are very glad to have stopped in and will be back to trytheir other offerings! Update: Came again on a Saturday and Sunday, a month later. We had the steak burger with truffle fries.I think a tall young made our food, and I must say, the truffle fries that day were well seasoned (to my liking) and the truffleflavor was much bolder! Every single fry was blissful. My son said that they "were soo good"! The steak burger had the most"steak" taste I've ever had in a burger. We were very fond of the pretzel caramel concrete. Sooo many custard options!! My Veteran Dad wanted custard and told me to try this place. It took me awhile to read the menu ????... many delicious options. Custard shakes, Sundays, cones, and malts. They do have food such as hot dogs, hamburgers and such. Thestaff was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the small vanilla shake with peanut butter. Delicious would recommend forpeople wanting their peanut butter fix. My Dad ordered a small strawberry chocolate shake. He finished his in less then 10minutes. One happy customer. ???? Some of the best Ice cream/Frozen Custard in existence. This is a chain. I only had been to the ones in Kansas City before but... was happy to find this location in Topeka when I was driving through. Definitely go for the s'mores concrete! The base Custardis fantastic no matter what, but I really liked how that flavor blended together. For Thanksgiving they do a seasonal pumpkinpie where they throw in a good slice of it. If you have dogs, they will give you a pup cone for each of them. We also triedthe truffle fries from here. My strawberry malt was really runny. The chicken tenders and fries were good though.
