What a disaster dinner, the menu don?t reflect the same prices online. Secondly, almost all the menu items were sold out and run... out everything like first Mexican restaurant they don?t have more guacamole. Just 15 people on the restaurant?s and we wait 1/2for the food. Very disappointed of this place. Read more

By far the worst Mexican I have had in Toronto. Soft tacos were soggy. Chicken had little bones in it and it tasted old. Steak... was old and sinewy. Tacos and nachos were stale and over salted. It was also highly overpriced. Never again. Read more

Delicious food and huge portions. The vibe feels like being on vacation in Mexico. Authentic style. The spicy is spicy.

I had the enchiladas with mole sauce. Really good, tasted like how my mom used to make it. Good portion as well. Atmosphere was... nice with bright colours and it wasn?t busy when we went on a Saturday evening. Only thing I have to complain about is that itis a bit pricy and it took a while for our food to come out. Not sure if they are short staffed, but the taste and authenticityof the food made up for it. Read more

Went for dinner last night, it was delicious food, nice atmosphere and the art on the wall is very creative. I had the... enchiladas and they were so good. Don't forget to try the sangria! That was my favorite. Read more

Would be nice to have a more comfortable or larger patio but you work with what you got. The food however, was outstanding.... Flavours that rivaled places I've been in Oaxaca, Chiapas, or Sinaloa. This food is exceptional, you can tell it's all familyrecipes cooked by someone who really knows what tastes good. Read more

Updated extensive honest July 2022 review: El Sol is still hands down the best, most authentic Mexican restaurant in... Toronto. Lets talk about price since many people on here have done so on other reviews of El Sol. Depending on what dish youorder, if you go with either the meat or vegetarian platter, it offers you the most bang for your buck. Since Covid, costs havegone up. Yes it's expensive but if you price out a restaurant on the Danforth like a Greek restaurant, El Sol is AT LEAST $30cheaper based on a group of 4 people. Restaurants like Pantheon, which serve amazing Greek food but now costs almost $130 for 4people. El Sol the meat platter serves 2 people with leftovers the next day for about 55 bucks that's roughly 22 dollars perperson which is a fair price based on how much food you get plus the quality of their food. Ordered food today and I noticedsmall changes that affects the food. El Sol is smart! They made some minor changes that only repeat customers would notice. Ifyou examine what you get for the price, if you were to make it yourself, the costs would be very close to what El Solcharges. If you want high quality Mexican tortillas, you get 15 for about 12 bucks each. Cost of chicken and ground beef youare looking at minimum 25 to 30 bucks based on the dish El Sol sells. Cost of red pepper, lettuce, and Radishes at least 8bucks total. Trust me, I get it, it seems like El Sol is expensive but if you factor in the costs I mentioned, not includingyour time to make it, I'm certain you are saving very little for cooking it at home. That doesn't even include their amazinghomemade salsa, rice and refried beans. El Sol I have huge respect for because they have cut some corners but did so thatdoesn't affect portion sizes or major differences in the quality of their food. This is why they encourage paying with cash soEl Sol doesn't have to raise costs for greedy credit card companies. Don't get me wrong, their beef flour tortilla thi Read more

Really enjoyed our first time at El Sol. Very friendly staff and eclectic ambiance added to the experience. Portions are... generous and in this reviewers opinion authentic mexican food... No westernized versions here. I do plan on returning andbringing friends I gave it a 4 vs 5 due to the black bean enchiladas not being marked on the menu as spicy. I enjoy lots ofspice and liked the meal but I was sharing with someone who doesn't enjoy this much spice so I had to eat it solo. I didn'texperience the slow service other reviewers noted Read more
