The ambience is amazing, cool comic book references all around, great for a big nerd like me. Unfortunately, the food was less... than great, kind of expensive and very oily were it shouldn't be. This place should really decide on being a bar rather than arestaurant. I particularly think it would be an amazing pub if they changed the menu a bit for something fresher and lighter. Iordered the $24 Gnocchi and it was tasty, but there were something like 3 tablespoons of oil from the Bolognese left in myplate. The deep-fried artichoke used for garnish was soggy. My wife and I went to this place for Sunday brunch and it was great! Everything from the food, the atmosphere, the decor and... especially the music was amazing. Service could have been better as our waitress didn't offer us a drink menu and she said therewas no wifi available (we asked another staff member and she said yes, and gave us the password). The reviews that have been posted about Figures are spot on. So not going to get into it all and be repetitive. There is a... disconnect between the comic book theme and the food. I just did not get it. Besides the Storm Trooper drink and a Maleficentdrink (which was unavailable at the time), I personally did not see the connection between the theme and the menu items. Yes,the menu items are few. No appetizers and no vegetarian options for main course were available at the time of my diningexperience. Yes, the portions are small. Although full of flavour and incredibly fresh and creative, I would have LOVED to haveseen them at least 50% bigger. The price is what you would expect for this area of downtown Toronto. It isn't cheap eats by anymeans. The heirloom carrot salad was amazing. I was blown away by how flavourful it was. Although, what did ruin it for me wasthat within the spirals of shredded carrots was a long thick black hair within the food. My pasta dish was very good. I couldnot stop raving how good it was. But again, yes, very small indeed. Dessert was great. The beignet was delicious and wonderful.Best part is that there were actually 3 so enough to share with others. I would suggest this place for a quick bite and acocktail but for dining, I would pass as you will leave hungry. One other piece of contention was that our server broughtanother bottle of sparkling water when we had finished our previous one. Please don't assume that we want another bottle withoutasking. Wonderful dining experience. Came for dinner and drinks with some friends. The entrance is set up like a speakeasy. Giving you... some intrigue to the restaurant. Started with some drinks, the menu has a great selection of cocktails. And the mixologist doesa great job of mixing up off menu drinks as well. My friend got 2 different mocktails made up for her that she loved. Our serverasked for flavour profiles that she liked and got the mixologist to create 2 delicious and refreshing drinks. Our cocktails werewell balanced and delightful. Food was elegant and did not lack flavour. Portions were refined, so we got several dishes toshare. Service was lovely, very tentative with water refills and removing glassware and dinnerware. The art and atmosphere inthe restaurant is unique as well as appealing. Pricing is a little high but expected for the Yorkville area and experience.Would give Figures a solid 4.5! Read more
Amazing ambience! It was a comic book themed restaurant with great food....The drinks are based off characters and stories! The... food is just exquisite! You enter a room full of comic books from floor to ceiling...And you press the shield to enter in! It'sa must visit place for a special occasion...Unless you are super rich....It's worth every penny.... Best of all you get to takehome a comic book with your bill :) Read more
We took my husband here for his birthday prior to the pandemic- so, many things might have changed since then. We found the... drinks to be great, but expensive. The food was okay. The staff struggled with timing and we ended up waiting a lot, whileothers had their drinks or food. At a certain hour, they move from a restaurant to a club/lounge. Though we were still barelyinto our second drinks and eating our dessert, we were rushed out… the only time service rushed. The decor was amazing! Read more
