Itacate is a small, family-run taqueria on St. Clair West. We usually come to St. Clair for sushi (but Shunoko is gone now... ????), and always walked by Itacate on the way to get dessert at Futura. There isn?t a lot of seating and a lot of people gettheir food to-go. However, we were able to grab a table near the door where there was additional window seating. Expect longerwait times during peak hours. The place has a bunch of different luchador masks adorning the walls which were super cool. Thekitchen is open and you can see them preparing the food right in front of you. We got 7 tacos for $8 each, served with 2 hotsauces. It is on the pricier side compared to other Toronto taco places we?ve been to but the food was deliciousnonetheless. ????Cash and e-Transfer available for tax-free payment. Debit is also available +tax. ????3x Pastor (marinatedpork, pineapple) ????Volcan (steak, onions, cheese) ????Suadero (beef) ????2x Camarones a la Mexicana (shrimp) Read more

It?s hard to not TACO?bout this spot, when it?s this authentic and good! We got Camarones a la Mexicana and Lengua Tacos.... Camarones a la Mexicana was Shrimp Taco cooked in a sweet sauce with Cilantro and Onions, the Shrimps were a bit overcooked butthe flavour was BOMB! Lengua Tacos were Beef Tongue Tacos, it came with 2 THICK slices of Beef Tongue on soft Tortilla, toppedwith Cilantro, Onions, this was probably one of the BEST Tacos we have had around the city! Overall, this spot is SUPERauthentic, it?s not really a Restaurant, they have 2 Patio tables and a couple of Bar seats, but gosh these Tacos were LIT???? Read more

Came here for tacos but ordered one of their sandwiches instead and BOY did we not regret it! This unassuming meat haven makes... amazing heavy hitting sandwiches that are absolutely loaded (1 sandwich can feed 2-3 people). We got the al pastor sandwichwhich was packed with fried cheese(!), al pastor meat, tomatoes, refried beans, and a mayo based sauce all on a crunchy roll. The flavours were bold but not spicy, and the textures were melt in your mouth. The service was friendly, but be prepared towait as both times I have visited I was required to wait 30-45 min for my food. 100% a must try in Toronto. Read more

Never been to Mexico but I get the feeling this is authentic. Great tacos and sandwiches(Mexican Submarines?) The servers are... friendly and competent, the tacos are large, delicious and generously filled. It's a little dingy on the inside.. given theprices($100 for 4 with tip) but I'd rather have good food over atmosphere. Read more

"Supporting the Small Family Business" 4 stars for food 4 stars for customer service The very first thing I try at a Mexican... or TexMex restaurant is their nachos offering. Crazy for Nachos. So I ordered their "Chorilocos" and I can say it is one of thebest/tastiest. Heaping plate, extra delicious chorizo bits sprinkled all over, topped with pickled jalapenos (interesting taste,I like!) and comes with a side of fresh green and red extra spicy salsa. Will try their other offerings next time. Only slightinconvenience is they only take cash (understandable, but they also do e-transfer) and you must pay first at the front counter.Nice to see the whole family operating the establishment (los padres, abuela, hijo, nieto, etc.). Some of the best tacos in Toronto. Giving it four stars because of price compared to what you?re getting - $8 per taco; don?t... feel like I?m getting my value out of this. Cash only. Read more

A little gem tucked away in a Mexican butcher shop. Absolutely the best tacos I have ever had in Toronto. The taste is authentic... and delicious, comparable to those from Tijuana/Mexico I had two years ago. They make all their tortillas in-house. We haveordered seven tacos, all bursting with flavours, and the portions are generous. The thick-cut beef tongue is definitely the starof the show, which is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth. The Pastor with pineapple in it is also excellent. Be awarethe restaurant is cash only, and each taco costs $6-$8. It's better to do takeout since the place has limited seating. We havewaited 20+ minutes on a Saturday afternoon, so it will be wise to call and place your order beforehand. We will come back to tryother items in no time. Read more
