Had an absolutely incredible meal at Ki Modern. Started with a house specialty cocktail and appetizers - all... fantastic. Following that we ate family style, ordering sushi rolls, skewers and other small plates. The pork belly skewermight be in my top 5 dishes I've ever eaten - highly recommend. The lobster tempura was exceptional, the lobster was fresh andcooked perfectly. I also tried the A5 Miyazaki - it was an experience. On top of it all, the menu is well priced, service wasperfect and the ambiance was cool and enjoyable. Will return whenever I'm in town. Read more
This was an excellent experience! From the food and drinks to the hostess, to our excellent waiter, all of their support team... (water, clearing the tables, etc.) - it was first rate service. Including the hot towel they brought us so we could freshen upour hands before dinner. We started with cocktails - a delicious Shiso Lemonade with a well balanced tartness. The miso soupfollowed. Then a few lovely grilled skewers (kushiyaki) - pineapple, pork belly, jumbo tiger shrimp. Pork gyozas followed...as did the Bistro Shrimp Tempura with a tasty mayo-based dipping sauce. We asked Pierce to select some nigri, sashimi and'modern' nigri for us - everything was awesome! Warning though, the Tempura Butterfish is incredibly rich and filling. Delicious! It was such a great experience! I should have taken a photo of the menu to tell you everything we got but I will say... that the So Matcha Fun cocktail was a hit. Their Torched Salmon and Butterfish rolls were absolutely phenomenal. Also theservice - 10/10. Super professional and super sweet! Read more
Ki is clearly an upscale restaurant with highly trained staff, beautiful interior, elaborate menu and expansive drink... selection. There are no criticisms for Ki if you are looking for contemporary Japanese food with a fusion spin. If you arehoping to get simple sushi, this may not be the restaurant for you, as there is a heavy emphasis on experimentation - eggplantand miso, unique sauces to name a few! The fish is high quality, but can be over powered by the rest of the non-traditionalingredients. If you are going with guests that are so-so about sushi/fish, there is alot on the menu that they can still enjoylike sirloin and other cooled meat dishes. Overall, a nice experience but very pricey. This place has a very nice ambiance to it. I really enjoyed and appreciated the unique cocktails they offered as well. Although... I went for the sushi, I ended up loving the karaage chicken the best. It was so tender and just delicious. The sushi was decentbut for the price, I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again. This place is definitely upscale so expect to pay a lot. The ambience is classy; definitely a nice place for drinks with... coworkers or even a date. Apparently they have the largest sake offering in the entire country? Menu here is great and has alot of variety; however I expected them to offer more unique dishes. The food however was definitely fresh and they had theirown spin on “typical” Japanese dishes. While it was decent and different, I’m not sure I’d consider it worth the price.If I wanted sushi, I’d prefer to go to a smaller family-run establishment for half the price. But again, you are paying forthe experience and ambience. While the servers were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu, it was a bit difficultto navigate a small table. Our server had to remove some items from our table just to make room for the 3-4 dishes weordered. While I had a great overall experience, I’m not sure I could justify coming back on a regular basis. I rate this place 4.5 out of 5 stars. Overall, the food we ordered is alright, it's above average but nothing memorable that... would make you itching to come back for more. The portion is on the smaller size considering the price point. Another critiqueis the limited item on the menu, which means you will get bored easily after multiple visits. On the bright side, the sushi isamazing and I wish they have more selections or cuts of fish. In terms of service, the staffs were amazing, very professional,kind, and courteous. The foods came in great pace allowing the patrons to take a break in between courses. All in all, I wouldgive this place another shot and modify my review if it improves. Read more
