One of the more underrated restaurants on the Danforth. Unpretentious, spacious restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. Food is... excellent especially the steak frites. Good selection of wine and craft beer. Read more
3 stars just for the service. The food was not good. The arugula in the salad was very tired and not crispy. On top of that... pale was 6 pieces of pear and 1 tbsp of goat cheese. $15... The pizza dough was tasty, but very very very little tops - 1 pieceof prosciutto for whole pizza (on pizza with no cheese) and one 1 tsp of boar meat on every piece of the other pizza. $19each... Pretty disappointing. I know it is not easy times for the restaurants now, but I won't be back to that place. Thank you Read more
We were at Local 1794 for the first time last evening. It will NOT be our last! It was a wonderful experience in every way.... DELICIOUS food, FRIENDLY, ATTENTIVE service...every single thing was excellent. We shared Thai mussels to start, and we sharedour orders of poké and brisket sandwich. Great food with inexperienced customer service Ok let?s talk about my background I?m a Pescetarianism which means I eat seafood... and veggie only. I ordered a vegetarian gnocchi and they give me a chicken pasta. Luckily I?m not a picky vegetarian no religionor other strict preference. I show my unsatisfactory and the waitress did nothing like compensation. What if I am a Buddhism andI took the meat? It?s a serious problem. I would say food is good but many restaurants can do so. Just got back from here, and I must say I enjoyed my time very much. Great little spot to grab a drink, and have a great meal at... the same time. The mushroom risotto is extremely yummy, and the vegetarian gnocchi was good too. My girlfriend enjoyed the drinkshe chose, the passion fruit mojito. I definitely would go back, and most likely will to try out the other menu options. Read more
Great spot! First time trying out this restaurant. From the second you walk in service was amazing and friendly. Food was great.... We got the mushroom burger, calamari, mussels and the cheesecake. All sooo delicious. I love calamari and order it almosteverywhere I go. This would definately be in my top 5. My cousin tried the pizza and mushroom risotto and they said their foodwas also delicious! Read more
So happy we visited this place! It is a lovely sit-down restaurant at a convenient location right around where we live. It is... very family friendly, and friendly to people of all age groups for that matter. Service was amazing, with our food coming inunder 15 minutes,!and our waitress was incredibly polite and helpful! The food was even better! I ordered the The Local Burgerfor $16 and it was the best burger I?ve had in awhile! My boyfriend ordered the Boar Meat Pizza for $19 on a recommendation fromour waiter and he loved it as well! Portions were perfect to be full, but not so full you feel sick. Alcohol was very fairlypriced as well especially compared to other places in the neighbourhood, and there were many great options to choose from (wedidn?t order any tonight however). The overall vibe of this place was lovely as well, definitely has that cozy pub feel to it.It is beautifully decorated as well with a sort of rustic style to it. Gastrobar with elegant decor. Happy to see the kitchen was still open until 11pm on Friday. Both booths and patio seating in... high top tables. Each seat inside have the access to dim lighting and charge your phone! Great idea for the busy smartphoneuser. Service was pleasant and prompt. Nice mix of different foods, such as mac and cheese, gnocchi, wings, pizza and poke. Ihad the vegetarian gnocchi, good portion of vegetables, mostly asparagus...gnocchi was larger and heavier than usually atItalian restaurants, 1 inch squares. My foodmate had the mac and cheese, very cheesy and a Smokey flavour which is overwhelmingfor some. The burger and fries look good...but didn't get a bite to review. Cost: Entrees range from $20-$38 depending on dish.Overall: Nice ambiance...would be nice for a date or with friends...better good than just a bar. Read more
