First time coming here after years of walking past it. Overall, good experience. The restaurant is clean and staff is welcoming.... Food took a bit long to come out, but was fresh and hot. We had heard many a great thing about Mother Dumplings,however, it did not live up to the hype. The food was fine, nothing to... really rave about. We had the garlic broccoli, green onion pancakes, veggie dumplings and pork dumplings. The service wasnice, and the staff were extremely pleasant, for that alone, I'd give it a five rating. Pretty decent Chinese restaurant! We both enjoyed the northern style noodle salad (J6). We were surprised to find the dish is... available because it?s hard to find it! I liked the green dumplings as well. We were a little disappointed with the xia longbao, bc it didn?t have much ?soup? to it :( Usually you would drink the soup out of the dumpling first, but nothing came outwhen we tried. Mother's Dumpling was disappointing to say the least. With all the accolades and positive reviews, I was really hoping for some... excellent dumplings for the price being charged, but they were subpar; the juicy dumplings lacked juice and soup - I also wasn'tgiven a soup spoon for it (should of been a red flag that it wasn't going to be juicy) and the pork chive dumplings werebland. The restaurant was clean and tidy, however, it was really hot in the restaurant and did not seem to be air conditioned.The service was mediocre as well. Read more
Immediately once you come in you notice the place is clean, spacious for a Toronto restaurant and inviting. There is even a... glass window to allow you to see someone hand making the dumplings. When it came to the food I did notice the quality of thenoodles in my jian noodles, it definitely tasted handmade but the sauce was a little saucy and lacked flavour. The soupdumplings tasted as if it was made from scratch but it lacked soup, I was really looking forward to slurping up some niceflavoured soup. Note the fried pancakes are very small! The menu photo is slightly deceiving and the taste was a little on themediocre side. On the one side I really did appreciate the Service everyone was kind and attentive. Overal 3.5 stars. Mother?s dumplings is a really good address for you to eat good Chinese food. They have a lot of choice and the staff is really... nice!
