I was expecting a lot from the veal sandwich but it proved to be disappointing. The veal was lackluster, and there was way too... much of it for a balanced meal. The basic sandwich is made only of meat, sauce and bread, which is very unbalanced. There shouldbe less veal and more vegetables. The service was quite cold. The price is reasonable though. Excellent sandwich at an excellent price! Their veal sandwich is delicious, made to order, and came hot and fresh! Everything... down to the bun and sauce was perfect. Very much enjoyed it. Their pizza looks great too! Definitely recommend. Read more
So, I am going to be completely honest here; I don't feel great about writing negatively about an old place with an authentic... atmosphere, but I also think it is important to encourage a local spot to maintain the standards which have allowed the place tobe open so long. With that being said, everything I ordered ended up being terrible. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza, acheese burger, fries, chicken nuggets, and onion rings with gravy. I was impressed by the prices, it ended up being veryaffordable, which I appreciate a lot. The pizza was extremely bland, sparse on the pepperoni, and a little too doughy for me tobelieve it was cooked properly (I enjoy soft and fluffy crust pizza, but this ain't it). The fries had that unfortunate thing happen to them that home cooks know very well; if you squished or bit into it oil would come out - pretty unpleasant. The onionrings had an awful gritty texture to them which made one spit them out after biting into it. Chicken nuggets were obviouslyfrozen, which isn't inherently wrong, but they had that funky freezer taste that makes you wince with every bite. The burger...well.... the meat was really unfortunate, the cheese was carelessly placed, the dressings in the burger added nothing.Caramelized onions where? And the pickles... The picture I have included is of the inside of the burger, at one point I tookapart the two buns to take a look at the meat and found two different kinds of pickles. Establishments go through differentpickle jars, and there is really no need to be wasteful; but the dish should have its own internal consistency,right? Ultimately, I don't want to give up on this place because there are so many positive reviews from the past, and it seemslike a local fixture. I would love to come back in six months and be completely surprised. And, I'm willing to try that if Tony& Nicks Place is willing to make some changes. I'll be back and hopefully with kinder words. Delicious pizza, no complaints! Crust was doughy yet crispy. I wish they had dipping sauces.
Amazing veal sandwiches and pizza by the slice. This place is not fancy and there is no seating inside, but you will NOT be... disappointed. Excellent value and you can call ahead to order. There is always a lineup for veal sandwiches. Read more
