The atmosphere was really nice, very beautiful decor, with live music. Our server was nice and our water glass was always... full. Our favourite part of the meal with dessert, we loved the chocolate hazelnut tart and the pistachio strawberry cream puff. Both are amazing and must try’s! As for the entrees… The Halibut was a good size but it was salty and taste was average.The flatiron medium rare came out on the more well done side, and the second time around, it was extremely rare to the pointwhere it was difficult to cut.. this was disappointing. Was in town for work and tried this place after doing some searching online. WOW I would fly here from the US again just to come... back here! Atmosphere was incredible - we sat at the chefs bar & there was live music. The food was also amazingly delicious andloved everything! Read more
Between 3.5-4 stars. The decor was nice, but felt a little cheap; was lacking in the small touches, and the live county band... playing when we were there clashed extremely heavily with the contemporary vibe Vela were trying to go for. It was extremelyquestionable. Not sure if this was a weird Tuesday decision or not. We got the tasting menu and for the price, it was prettygood. I would say there were some highlights and some dishes that were average, but again, can't compare a 90$ tasting menu witha $200 one, so I'd say for the price it was great. The octopus and the dessert were stellar and incredibly delicious. Reallyappreciated the pallet cleanser before the dessert as well. Overall portions were great and ingredients were generous (like thetruffle on ravioli). Read more
What an absolute amazing dining experience, from start to finish. I was initially worried it would just be another overpriced... restaurant with “cool vibes” but I was quickly proven otherwise. Yes the ambiance was great and made for a fun andcomfortable dining experience. But the star of this restaurant was the FOOD!! Wow. They served the best octopus I’ve evertasted. We also ordered the ceviche which tasted so fresh and tart. The cocktails and dessert also followed suit. The servicewas friendly and we got all our food in a timely fashion. The menu can be pricey but the quality and variety they have is soworth it. I’ll definitely be going back. Read more
What an extraordinary experience. We first sat on the patio and then decided to move to the bar. The place was packed, and the... hostess named Treasure was a real jewel. Her personality, beauty, and charisma floated us to our seats, where Nathan and Chrisgreeted us. The service was extraordinary! The food is magical. We sat by the bar and talked to the cooks and chefs, whoanswered all our questions about the delicious food they were preparing. We ordered one appetizer and five entrees, andunfortunately, we ran out of storage and couldn't try the deserts, but we are coming back for another round. 5 stars all theway!!!!! Read more
Like wow absolutely blown away, the decor and atmosphere were on point, service was excellent and the food was delicious. Highly... recommend the truffle pasta, beef tartar and the lemon vinaigrette salad! They were amazing and the peanut butter tart blew ourexpectations. Will definitely be back. Read more
Interior is beautiful. Love the design of the entire restaurant. Also the service is amazing! Everyone that you interact with is... friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food. The pork collard was our favourite. The crispy mushroomsand chicken liver was also good and we would reorder. Wish we had more room for pasta but we were very full from the otherdishes which are reasonably sized. We tried the miso blueberry dessert. It was light and a nice way to end the meal. Read more
If you have the chance to try Vela you must! I went here for a late dinner and it did not disappoint. The interior is absolutely... stunning, the vibe of the restaurant inside is stellar, and the food is scrumptious. When sitting inside it feels like you’rein a spaceship ready to take off. They played good music in the background and it set the mood for a great experience.Originally we were set to sit outside which is nice during the day… but it definitely doesn’t compare to sitting inside therestaurant. I’m so glad we asked the host to move us inside and they were more than accommodating and super friendly. The foodwas spectacular — the flavours were epic, the portions were great especially for the mains, and the menu was easy to follow.Our server was so friendly and willing to answer any of our questions about the food and drink menu. The drink menu was unrealas there were a lot of cocktails to choose from and I enjoyed exploring it. Overall, my experience at VELA was fabulous and Iwill be returning very soon! Read more
