A very nice restaurant in Traverse City. The ambiance is great, and I love that it?s in a building that used to be a mental... ward. The food was good, but a bit pricey. Two of the clams in my fettuccini were closed, kinda surprising for a restaurant ofthis level, but otherwise, food was good. Compared to other places in the area, I would recommend this place if you?re lookingfor fine dining. Read more

What can I say that hasn?t been said? Food and service is stellar, probably my favorite place to dine in the state of Michigan.... The setting is unique and interesting but fabulous at the same time. Have never had a poor experience here, and hope Stellaalways will be a part of my trips to Traverse City. Read more

The food was not as good as I was expecting the beef was too salty we had to send it back. When it came back it was still too... salty. The ribs had jalapeno peppers on them so I thought they would be spicy but they were not. They were more like a honeyglaze. Asparagus was delicious not overcooked. The flatbread pizza was very good. Our waiter Dave picked out an awesome winefor me he was on point. Read more

First time and great experience at Trattoria Stella. The quality of the service was exceptional and was a perfect compliment to... the excellent menu and beverage selections. The setting and decor is worth a stop by itself as the restaurant is located in thebasement of one of the buildings of the Village at Grand Traverse complex with access to the many shops as well. Thanks formaking this a memorable visit. Read more

Amazing Overall Experience! The entire meal was an experience in complex textures, and flavors. It was such a pleasurable meal... beginning with the excellent customer service and staff who had spot on recommendations and were incredibly knowledgeable andpassionate about the food to the atmosphere and ambiance of the location and subtle lighting. This place has so much to offereveryone, small plate options to give a taste of the expertly crafted cuisine to full entrees that leave you completely satiatedand satisfied. We sat at the bar and the bartenders blew us away with their knowledge and passion for the food, the drinkpairings and selections. There was no hesitation with their thoughts, you can tell they loved what they do and are thoughtfulabout it all. It was our anniversary and they brought us gelato which was better than I remembered having in Italy. I highlyrecommend Stella's. It was a top meal experience for us. Read more

Amazing food. I went for restaurant week and had a great meal. I ordered oysters and the cheese board and they were nice but not... something I'd order again because it's just not my type of thing to order so I'm not taking a star off because of that. Read more

An amazing establishment all the way around. Reserved a table with no stress at all. From the moment we entered, we were... treated very kind and professionally. Our waiter Craig was hands down the best and most informative waiter I have ever comeacross. He listened to us and understood our taste, and was able to masterfully guide us to selecting the perfect wine and foodbased off the information we gave him. Usually when you go to these kinds of places they portions are expensive yet small. Youleave hungry, or decide to get dessert. Not this place! I was stuffed! The portions fill you up, and the chefs are so talented!!Hands down the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is. Definitely worth the 5hour drive. Thank you to our Waiter Craig for his outstanding service, and to the chefs for preparing such an amazing meal! Read more

This place is so unique and cool due to its location in a former mental institution built in 1885. The restaurant is beautiful... and has very unique menu offerings. The food was overall delicious. The Spanish Octopus was the best dish we got. I had thespaghetti and my husband had the hake piccata and we split the mushroom soup. the flavors were great but my dish and the soupwere overly salted resulting in the 4 out of 5 rating. If the over salting was held back this would for sure be a 5. We wouldgo back though and try other dishes. Read more
