Just some of the best food we've had in Tucson! First I'll start with the decor and location. It's located at the Amtrak station... building and is a very unique restaurant. Walking in you notice it's not a very large restaurant but is very quaint. The bararea to the right and down below via steps is the dining area. Old style like the Old Pueblo but stunning and beautiful asyou'll see in the pictures. Our wait staff was John and he was an outstanding waiter, very personable. The rest of the waitstaff was also friendly. Now for the food and drink. I ordered the Maynards Old Fashioned and it was one of the best I've had.Maynard's menu is seasonal so what you see today you might not see next month because this restaurant uses local/regional meatsand produce. Yesterday Chef Brian Smith knocked it out of the park! We ordered the $75 per person course which is a 6-coursemeal with a dessert at the end. You'll see a 7th in my photos because we were celebrating my wife's birthday. She didn't likethe churro dessert because the creme fraiche was too smoky but I thought it was fabulous (I like smokey food). You don't reallyknow what you're getting as it's chef prepared and changes from day to day. I won't explain each course but when you lookthrough the pictures you'll see how wonderful each dish looks and tastes even better. Our favorite was the steak course and theheirloom tomato course but everything was wonderful and we don't think it could have been any better. We'll be back for sure totry another round. Thanks Chef! IMHO this is the best restaurant in Tucson right now. The train station setting very romantic, the staff very professional and... friendly and the food outstanding. The menu changes frequently however it can be assured that the oyster mushrooms withcaramelized whey and salsa Matcha Will be on the menu, do not miss it. The beef tartare was great As was the duck comfy withdirty rice. Read more

Housed in the historic district's train station, Maynard's is a standout for its appealing location and dimensional menu. Part... of the Hotel Congress, which is directly across the street, the restaurant has smooth service from hostess stand to table, withthe feel that the waitstaff are doing this as a career, not a side job. The mains were well prepared (salmon with sourdoughspaetzle and beets and porkbelly with grits and kale), and the house-made focaccia was an unexpected star of the show. The onlyminor criticism would be for the staff to slow down the pacing of the meal and dish removal a bit, so courses don't arrive inquick succession and plates aren't cleared the minute the fork drops. Perfect place to enjoy a romantic evening or entertainguests. Read more

First time for us to try this restaurant after the new owner/management took over. Beef tart has good flavor but the texture is... off (guess they used lower grade of beef). Both duck and pork belly entrees came lukewarm. The server was very friendly. We willnot come back. There are many restaurants in Tucson offer much better food at this price point. Read more

4th visit to Maynard's and a 5th is in my future. You will not walk away from here for less than $100 a person if you are doing... it correctly. And the staff and the chef are well worth the price. Portions are not large. They are more Euro sized but theflavor and time taken to make these dishes is unapparelled in Tucson (I would argue AZ). It's busy. It's always busy duringGem Show week so if you don't have a reservation, don't even try. We did, we knew better and were sat within 5 mins. Drinks. Ohh lord the drinks. There was a gin drink that used an IPA foam that I am still dreaming about 5 days later. It blew my mind. Completely unreal. Wine list is extensive and quality is amazing. You will pay for it, but again, this is a special place tocome- not an everyday visit. There was a $75 tasting menu that we almost did but order a la carte. I wont go on and on abouthow good it is but anyplace that I feel comfortable to eat steak tar tar is a quality establishment. Coffee to finish theevening or perhaps a nice Port (wonderful selection and GENEROUS pours) with some ice-cream is a dream. Read more

We sat on the patio on a Saturday night. Ambience was great, plenty of space between tables, and a couple trains went by. The... food was absolutely delicious. Very interesting combinations. They also did a nice job accommodating our food allergies. Read more
