I went to a local shop on Black Wall Street and asked for food recommendations. They recommended Wanda J's and their... recommendation did not disappoint. The workers are so nice and accommodating. I was able to have a light conversation with myserver as well as get recommendations for other things in town. It was very sweet of her to take the time to talk to me. Thefood is good too! There are options for everyone. I got a basic meal of chicken tenders, fries, mashed potatoes and corn bread. The food was very tasty and was a good portion. I highly recommend anything with mashed potatoes and corn bread as your side. One thing to keep in mind is that the location is small. So make sure to give yourself enough time if you go at a regular diningtime just in case it's busy. They do carry out too if you'd like to take it back to your hotel/home. Read more

Eat authentic, tasty southern-style food and support a black-owned business in the Greenwood District at the same time! Within... two blocks of Wanda J's, we visited the Greenwood Cultural Center, passed the historic AME church, saw half a dozen murals, andtoured the new Greenwood Rising museum. Add Wanda J's to your exploration of Black Wall Street and the Greenwood District. I hada loaded potato and my husband had catfish that he called "heavenly." The staff was friendly, service was quick, and theatmosphere was casual. This is a gem where locals go for real southern food and everyone is welcome. Read more

Chicken fried steak is the best in Tulsa! My husband had the grilled pork chops and really like them. We had mustard greens,... fried okra, sweet potato casserole and fried cabbage, all the sides were perfect. The cornbread was so good and unusual it wassweet and like a corn cake. The service was fantastic. Seating was limited and the restaurant was spotless. We will definitelybe back! Read more

My partner and I FINALLY tried Wanda J?s after living in downtown Tulsa for a year and let me tell you? IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I... had a craving for fried chicken and we decided to give this a try. I had the 2 piece fried chicken breast meal with mustardgreens and candied yams on the side. I also chose the cornbread. Everything had flavor and the chicken was perfectly crispy andtender! The candied yams were sweet and tasty and the greens took me back to childhood memories! My partner ordered the specialof the day, the beef tips and he loved it! We also got a side of fried okra. Overall everything was delicious, the service wasphenomenal and we loved our experience. We?ll definitely be back. Read more

Sometimes when you go to a restaurant it?s about more than having a meal. So as my experience at Wanda J?s Next Generation soul... food restaurant. Wanda J?s is located in the historic Greenwood District in Tulsa. Of course, this was the site of the Tulsarace massacre a century ago. As you approach the restaurant there are plaques in the sidewalk identifying countless businessesthat were destroyed during the massacre. Then you arrive at Wanda J?s. A tiny building with big flavor. We tried chicken wings, pork chops with green beans, pinto beans and of course Mac and cheese. They were all delicious. The wings were only dusted withflour so they were relatively light and not greasy. The green beans had that tell tale flavor of pork making them tasty butprobably not as lo cal as you might think. Overall we enjoyed the food and the sense of history. Read more
