In town picking up food to eat with my father at the VA hospital. My original go to for some great fish spot was closed today... (Catfish Heaven), so I found this place right around the corner and figured my parents would like some good ole soul food.\nMyfather demolished his plate of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and greens... the potatoes are obviously instant potatoes. My mothergot 2 piece dark meat chicken, which were only legs... she thought she was getting a leg & thigh. My mom loved her yams andgreen beans. I had baked chicken which was well seasoned, (not falling off the bone) with dressing and cabbage. Truth be told, the cabbage was the star of the plate. My dressing was like Pudding... broken down cornbread soaked in juice, no onions, bellpeppers... Nothing! I hate I didn\'t get a pic because I Never seen dressing like this, my parents were even grossed out whenthey saw it!\nIt\'s a very small building (looks bigger from the outside), nice outside sitting area, and the inside diningarea... well, let\'s just say, if ur claustrophobic, I wouldn\'t recommend you eating inside. However, the guy whose takingorders was very nice and patient. Read more

The food was very good. The first bite was the cabbage and my eyes closed on their own. When you see the empty plate on the... pictures, it belongs to me. I think the last bite is just as important as the first one and I have a happy plate. Thank you! Iwill be back. Read more

Tried Soul Food for the first time! Was meeting a friend in Tuscaloosa for lunch and he dropped this location to meet. I... ordered the Pork Chop, collard greens, mac n cheese and candied yams. Absolutely hands down, delicious! The pork chop wasmoist, seasoned perfectly and crispy around the edges. Collard greens were very good. Mac n cheese were surprisingly cheesy andyummy and the star was the candied yams which to me tasted like Christmas in my mouth! Oh and the staff were super friendly, helpful and awesome! Thank you for showing islanders from Hawaii your southern hospitality! Read more
