We were so looking forward to Sal's arrival in Tustin, having eaten at their other pizzeria in South County. We decided to give... Sal's a try Saturday, taking advantage of their Tustin holiday special -BOGO. We ordered one Brooklyn Cheese and oneMargherita. While Grandma Sauce was tasty and mozzarella was fresh, the pies were not kept in the oven long enough and bothpies were really underdone. Crust was not cooked well and cheese was not melted fully. We are native NYers and really lookedforward to a NY pizza experience. Sorry, Sal's, but you missed the mark. I hope your staff learns how to cook your pies fullyand correctly. Best NY pizza Tustin & OC have to offer. You have to try the Grandma Pie though with Sal?s house made mozzarella and also the... garlic knots. Right next to AMC Theater at The District in between Irvine and Tustin. Read more
We ordered the 14in Brooklyn cheese. It was undercooked and had runny sauce/cheese as well. The crust was the only good part.
We were so excited to see that this pizzeria had opened! It?s nice to have a food option in The District that?s fast, friendly,... and reasonably-priced. The BBQ Chicken pizza was good; but, a little too heavy on the red onions for my taste. The SpicySicilian was amazing! If we weren?t going to the movies after, we would have purchased a whole pie right there. The crust hadthe perfect amount of crunch, the sauce provided a nice depth, the cheese melted nicely with the toppings, and the hot honey wasa welcome addition. We will be definitely coming back!
