I have been coming up to Tweed from Ohio for 45 years and have enjoyed the Gateway Restaurant for all of that time! We want to... congratulate Alex and Sharon for the job they are doing since taking over during the pandemic. You have made wonderfulimprovements to a family icon! The food is fantastic! The Gateway special is my ultimate favorite! And all of the people thatwork there work so hard and are so kind and courteous. It?s a treat to come back here with new ownership and feel so welcome. The food was good. But over charged my wife and our 1 year old daughter went there we were charged 50 bucks for breakfast. Looks... like they charged us 3 Adult and not 2 Adults and 1 child. Don't over charged your customers I'm not going back. Read more
As a person with a gluten sensivity I was very happy with the food and the service. The wait staff was accomodating and... communicated very well. I enjoyed my breakfast plate immensley. *Edit* I had originally posted that there may be accessibilityissues getting into the establishment due to some stairs at the front door. Tasty breakfast foods, with a good mix of options. Staff let me know they were short staffed and might take longer to get food... when i came in, in case i was on a schedule, but everything still came out in very good time. No non-pork meat options withbreakfast is my only complaint. Read more
It was good, big sizes and tasty! Pancakes were not amazing, but I was not expecting them to be that big.
Excellent. Fish and chips are on par with, dare I say better, than boathouse in Belleville. Service is friendly, warm and... comfortable. New ownership and menu are amazing. Thank you for bringing such a great place to tweed. Read more
Handsdown one of the best fish and chips we had!! The service was amazing. Covid protocols are in place, they are even doing... contact tracing. Better than here in Toronto. 5+ stars to staff who are very accommodating and friendly! They only serve fishand chips in Fridays. We came on Saturday only looking for fish and chips and we told them that and voila! They were able tocater our needs and exceeded all our expectations! Fish and fries were so tasty, crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Amazingexperience! The liver and onion was also really good. Will definitely visit again when in the area. Highly recommended! I really wanted to like it as I love small town diner/restaurants. My expectations were high because of the high reviews it... had. Started great, right in the middle of downtown, a big unpretentious simply decorated dining room with large windows givinga view of life on the street. Good coffee came quickly in large unmatched mugs. Loved it. The breakfast - less so. They hadrun out of back bacon so a large part of the menu wasn't available. Both of us got the special. It came quickly yetinexplicably, not cold, but less than warm. Don't understand. It was minutes between ordering and being served. Food shouldnot have cooled that fast. Plates were cold as well which didn't help. Eggs were small and home fries disappointing. Seemedlike chopped boiled potatoes thrown quickly onto a pan or grill just long enough to warm up. Choice of white or brown toast, weordered brown, still came white and cold. Friendly service and decent prices but I don't see ourselves going there again muchless recommending it to anyone. One of those sad times where Tim Hortons might have been the better choice. We didn't want tocomplain to the server as she was very nice and we didn't want to come across as a pair of whiney city dwellers. Sorry to writethis as we went out of our way on our drive home to come here. Next morning made basically the same breakfast at home and itwas great. The new owners should focus on the reviews of the last few months as they resemble our experience. Wish I'd readthem before going there. By the way, I looked at the lunch menu while paying the bill at the counter. $15 for a burger?? InTweed?? Are you nuts?? Read more
