A friend recommended this place and I can say that he did not disappoint. Really great food, prices are reasonable for the... amount of food and would recommend to anyone that loves sushi. Read more

Started off with the pan seared dumplings and they were amazing! We could've just ate those and been happy. Then we ordered... rolls. They were thick and delicious. Read more

Delicious! Everything we had was great, especially the sushi. The rice was soft and well seasoned and the fish was super fresh.... The shrimp shumai was also delicious and I can?t wait to come back and try the noodles and bento boxes among other things! Myonly complaint was that my scallops were definitely over cooked, but it still won?t stop me from coming back to get otherdishes! Read more

A disappointment. The raw salmon on the sushi is so thin, just a floppy sliver of fish (see photo) smothered with sauce. I could... hardly taste and feel the texture of the raw salmon, which makes eating sushi kind of pointless. I was so happy that a sushirestaurant had opened downtown Urbana, the first time I visited (soon after it opened) the food was good, but each time afterthat the quality seems worse to the point that my next sushi order will be somewhere else. Such a shame to see a promisingrestaurant cut corners. Read more

Thought it would be good to try this place since I'm familiar with Sakanaya, Ko Fusion, Ishsi Sushi, etc. This place wasn't what... I expected. It was packed with people so I figured the food must be good. Plus, other reviews showed tasty looking food. Thatwasn't the case. I ordered the sashimi sample ($10) and Urbana roll ($16). The sashimi sample was three thin, small pieces offish. The Urbana roll was super dry. The fish inside was way overcooked and it didn't look like much. I sadly feel I wasted$28... I wanted this place to be good but I'm not coming back due to the portion size, price, and quality of the food. I feellike I get more from other places in the area. Read more

My family and I stopped by Sakura for lunch on a weekday and it was delicious! We ordered the ramen, beef bowl (gyudon),... chirashi, and rolls. The ramen and gyudon were both very filling and tasty. The ramen broth was especially flavorful and the eggyolk was perfectly jammy. For appetizers, we had the crispy squid, takoyaki, and yakitori skewers. All great! Our food came outquickly, the fish was fresh and everything else came out nice and hot. The restaurant building itself was very clean - theseating and lighting were very nice. The servers were also very attentive and kind. My family and I were very satisfied with ourmeal and we will definitely be back soon! Read more

Sakura is a delicious restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere and service! The katsu was great - very crispy on the outside! The... chirashi and other items we ordered were also fresh and the service was great. The butterfly details on the countertop were anice touch and the wood decor was very clean. The leftovers we took out were great the next day too ???? Will definitely visitSakura again! Read more

Sakura is a great addition to the Urbana restaurant scene. While Sakanaya and KoFusion dominate the Champaign Japanese food... scene, among others, Sakura fills the void on the east side of town. Additionally, while the two aforementioned restaurantsmostly focus sushi/rolls/sashimi, Sakura has a well rounded menu of other entrees that differentiate it from the otherrestaurants. We visited during the soft opening, and the service was great considering it was their third day of operation. Inparticular, the soy sauce seemed more flavorful and delicious than anywhere I've had before. Prices are reasonable for what youget, and we left feeling quite full. The bento boxes were a great way to try a variety of items. The tempura was great, and therolls decent. All in all, a pleasant Japanese culinary experience in Urbana. I must admit I prefer Sakanaya's raw fish androlls, but I look forward to coming back and trying other menu items including the ramen and katsu at Sakura. I would recommendgiving Sakura a try!
