Never been in this place. Drove by it for 15 years. Finally went in to eat. Very nice place. Our Server was cool and laid back... (not too laid back). The husband and I had a very nice meal. Had a wonderful dinner tonight with hubby at our old stomping ground. We.started going to Filippa's about 30 years ago. One chef... changed everything a while ago and we hadn't visited since. But we were so happy to see the traditional menu back and to hearthey have a.chef that can cook the food to the level that customers expect from Filippa's. I forgot to take a picture of theexcellent calamari appetizer we had. It is done in a steak style slices with a wonderful lemon caper sauce with bell pepperslices. My husband had a perfect medium rare steak and I had a special order for the kitchen. They had gnocchi on the menu withItalian sausage in a cream sauce. I asked them to put the meat sauce with meatballs on the gnocchi. These were the softest,most fluffy gnocchi I have ever had. The meatballs were so taste and the sausage, that I wasn't expecting, had a full flavoredit must have been hand made. Our wine went so well with our appetizer and both of our meals. It didn't pare with our desserts,but the cocktail, blackberry cosmopolitan, I ordered when we first arrived went much better with my marscapone cheesecake withcrushed pistachios and a berry compote. My hubby had a cannoli and said it was top notch. Last comment is the our server,Markie, someone we have known from our many visits to Filippa's, is the best server we have ever had. Her honesty whenrecommending dishes, her friendliness while checking on how we are doing through the evening, you simply can't ask for anythingmore. Read more

I am upset I didn't come here sooner. Tony was an amazing waiter and accommodated us to perfection. He filled out our requests... as if he read our minds and we wanted for nothing while he cared for us. The atmosphere is a beautiful mix of modern and rusticItalian. The food is top notch. Try the calamari, lobster bisque and gnocchi. The drinks are wonderful as well. Thank you for awonderful night! Read more

Visits # 2 & 3: I believe in second chances. This place has became our favorite place for celebrations. We have been back twice... since our first visit on 12/31/2021. The food was great for my friends birthday. The food was great on Easter when they had theBuffet. Probably the best best buffet I have ever been to and I will always make reservations when they have a Buffet. Thepresentation of the buffet was nice the food taste outstanding. Visit #1: This is a fantastically beautiful place and Idesperately wanted my meal to be fantastic. When you spend $40 for filet mignon and you have to send it back twice to bere-cooked and still raw (I ordered it medium). It becomes obvious that the cook does not know what he’s doing. Thishappening when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. I’m not even sure if our waitress cared enough to offer water ornot I had to ask for just one refill of water. Read more

Let's start this on a positive note! Atmosphere in the bar seating area on a Friday or Saturday this place gets 5Stars! The... singer they have on Friday or Saturday(depending call and check) She jus made the whole night! Now on to the drinks, food andservice... Drinks being charged $15 for a Dark Cherry Cosmo(on their menu) I upcharged for a choice Vodka I'm ok with that, butit coming to me only HALF full. Jus NO! Thankfully it was corrected when I ordered my second drink(same item, they were quitetasty!) Appetizers, Escargot very good, buttery, garlicy and tender. Sausage and Peppers give you a solid B+ on that sausagecooked well and two peppers(not too hot) but c'mon sliced ripple potatoes that we're potato chip thin? Still it had flavour!Entree: Ribeye (MedzRare with a Char on it, waitress assured me they are cut and processed in house)requested mashed potato andVeg Medley this is where it went really bad! My steak had no char, if the meat was "Choice"(the pricing would suggest it wouldbe) it was SADLY lacking! Steak wasn't even an inch thick, on the tough side and wasn't seasoned AT ALL! C'mon Filippa's you'dbe such a 5Star spot if you'd get your kitchen together! The rest of my companions had a Ribeye(med-well hers was charred toprefection) and the other companion had a Pasta dish with a Seafood Medley decent enough and looked very appetizing. On to theservice, the young lady that covered the bar dining floor was very nice, polite and corrected almost all mistakes(we'regrateful) but she was one of two on the entire floor! Had to go to the bar to get my next round of drinks and were never askedif we wanted Wine with the dinner(they do have a decent wine list) to TOP it off she never came around to ask if anyone wanteddessert! Let me first say, the ambiance 10 stars, food 5 stars, hostess 5 stars, waitress Jenna (-100), We sat down for date night with... another couple, initially Jenna greeted us, great, then the other couple came and we placed our appetizer order, well I did andmy friend did but once the ladies placed the order Jenna walked off without taking our husbands order, Once she came back theywere able to place their appetizer order. I asked for a refill on water twice, she never brought it, the busboy had to refillmy water. He is a busboy not a waiter, she left the table and checked to see if everyone was ok like 2 after our food came tothe point we had to ask the other waitress to get her. The bill came and the automatic gratuity was 20% which came to$50, Let’s be clear money was never the issue her lack of service was. I called the manager over asked he remove the gratuityso we can tip her AND the busboy in cash. After that was done Jenna come over and immediately asked why did we do that, told uswe ruined her birthday and a few other things were said. I told her she was still getting a very nice tip but we also wanted totip the busboy, then her expression changed, I advised her that she would never address customers like that because it was notprofessional, if she had an issue with what her manager said to her she needed to address him as his version of what I saidwasn’t correct. I was so angry I got up from the table. We were one of 7 black couples there and I’m curious to know if shewould have addressed the other patrons of other races like that.
