I decided to take a break from driving I-5 to try somewhere new (to me) for breakfast. Vader is definately not on the highway,... and that turns out to be a good thing! The Little Crane is not fancy, but it's a great small-town cafe with good food, atreasonable prices. I selected the Chef Special, which was one egg, one meat, and your choice of pancake, waffle, or Frenchtoast. I opted for the French toast. Each item on the plate was well executed. The French toast was not your typicalover-the-top powdered-up restaurant version, but more like your mom used to make - and I found that refreshing. I recommendtaking the scenic side trip to Vader. I'll be going back. Oh yes, and since the cafe is located adjacent to BNSF's Seattle -Portland mainline, there's some Big Time railroading to watch, both freight and passenger - Union Pacific has trackagerighrs. UPDATE: Found myself near Vader this morning and decided to take the 3-mile detour off I-5. Went for the Waffleversion of the Chef's special this time (you can also get a pancake). This is probably better than the French Toast version! The waffle was thick like the Belgian variety and was perfect with warmed syrup. Read more
We read great reviews before we made the drive for breakfast, and it did not disappoint! We had french toast and the prime rib... with eggs- everything was absolutely perfect and the coffee was delicious (I'm picky). Everyone was super friendly and theprices were reasonable, too! Great Lil hometown place to eat! Superb prime rib special cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chef, he's awesome! The wait... staff is always great even when they are packed plum full! I ordered take out for the first time at Little Crane Cafe. When I walked in I was greeted with my name!. It took me back a... little because we just moved close to Vader after living in Kirkland and working in Seattle for 31 years and we were not used tobeing greeted by our first name when we walk in to pick up food. This little cafe is very cute and isolated. The menu has a lotof variety. I ordered a basic hamburger and a chicken fried steak for my husband. The food was good and I intend to go back!! Read more
Friday night prime rib with some family. Definite country, small town feel with friendly and smiling staff that had their work... cut out for them this busy Friday night. We still got fast service and plenty of time from the staff and cook as we hadquestions about the establishment and the many photos in the walls of local history. Overall everything was tasty and servedpromptly with one small glitch that was handled quickly and with no problems. We had several tickets in our crowd and again, topnotch experienced employees kept us all smiling and laughing as we headed out the door. This was quite a drive to get there butI'm going back soon. Update from March 25th. A great local restaurant. Another great dinner. The food is prepared to perfection each and every time.... We went there for for the Friday night Prime Rib. We ordered prime rib, very "rare". It was the best Prime Rib meals we have hadin a long time. The meat was very flavorful, cooked to profection. The sides; green beans, baked potato, salad and ice creamSunday made it a complete meal. Great service, and very friendly staff. The restaurant was very busy.
