The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness. You will never find another restaurant with spotless glasses and dinnerware... that literally glistened as we found here. It was late at night when I went into this cute Italian restaurant. I just ordered what I usually would when I would go to any... other Italian restaurant, Lasagna and a salad. I also got a pizza for my family that was meeting up with me. And I reallyenjoyed my dinner, the Lasagna was very filling but quite good, the salad was simple yet delicious, and I had a good time ingeneral. The staff was kind and funny. Lived in Pauma Valley since 2003. This was our first time at this restaurant. We ordered a large pizza to go for us and... another for one of our neighbors. Very disappointed to say the least. The crust was very thin and more like a piece ofcardboard with barely any sauce and cheese that was hardly melted. Never again. Frozen pizza has more quality. Read more

As we were driving in the area for work we passed by this little Italian spot which seemed to be in the middle of small town... USA. I was like, we need to turn around and try that spot. Probably the best decision we made that day. It?s a Hispanic familythat owns it and let me say, being Italian and knowing Italian food, Portinos is on point and so justice to Italian cuisine witha little bit of their twist to it. The flavors are dynamic in smell and taste. I went with a simple capellini pasta with sauceand meats balls with a side of sausages as pictured in my review. My co-worker ordered an Alfredo sauce mixed with a red saucetopped with sausages. Very different taste profiles. I chose to keep it simple and let the sauce speak authenticity. Let me sayPortinos didn?t disappoint! The sauce is fantastic! Not overly acidic at all and well balanced in flavor. I was impressed withhow they played their food. Very happy with this experience. For the price, location, and quality, you really can't beat it. This is the best Italian food in Valley Center. We went to... dine-in for dinner first. We got spaghetti and meatballs, chicken piccata, and a hot sandwich. All of it was really good. Ourserver was also awesome. She was really attentive, patient, and answered our questions well. Then we went back to pick up apizza. We got the Portino's special and it was pretty good. The cashier also gave great customer service on thisvisit! Definitely would recommend. Great tasting, and well prepared! We've been to other Italian Bistros that seemed to fall short on flavor quality. Portinos... really came through for us. The Chicken Parmisean was exemplary. The Chicken Picata was delicious, and the take-home portioncarried us over for next day's lunch. Read more
