Great location and décor! Was celebrating my DIL Birthday and I was running late (1 whole hour late) from a hair appointment.... The other 3 people of my group met on time 6:30 pm. They tried to ordered appetizers and drinks till I arrived. They were serveda bottle of wine however, were told they could not ordered appetizers until I arrived OR dinner orders were placed. (They lostanother $30/$40 with this rule.) So, I texted my group my dinner order. I arrived 30 minutes (7:30 pm) after they ordered and westill had to wait another 30 minutes, on a Thursday night, for our dinner. There were 4 other tables with customers- not full atall. My pasta dinner had good flavor however the linguine was not al dente. No bread/ no oil with dinner orders. Wine selectionwas excellent. Waitress was kind and attentive. Atmosphere is great.. wine, appetizers, entrées, and desserts are all great! Some of the tables are very close together so it... was difficult to hear my table's conversation over the conversation of the table next to mine. Could've just been a fluke. The atmosphere of the place was nice. I enjoyed the decor. Unfortunately I came here to eat, not look at stuff. Which is how I... spent most of my time here. Food took awhile to come out. Enough time that I could have received and finished a meal at adifferent place. When we finally got our food, my burger wasn't right. After waiting 10 more minutes to get a servers attention(the place wasn't packed, empty tables about), I pointed out the missing bacon, and said 'if you didn't charge me, just leave itoff'. Imagine my surprise when they brought out the bacon and charged me. Lastly the burger was a greasy mess. I didn't feellike I could pick it up without having to wash my hands after. Not worth $40 whatsoever. If anyone plans to go here (I don't)skip the burger and run with the salmon. TDLR: Staff was slow, food was slow, food was bad (the fries were good), serversdidn't listen to my order, servers didn't listen to my correction after fixing my order, paid too much. Wow! Fabulous service & food. Tammie was so kind and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Caesar salad and calamari for... our appetizer. Calamari was so tasty?a nice change from traditional Italian calamari. We ordered pasta and ribeye for dinner andeverything was cooked perfectly. Great ambiance. Drinks served timely. Tammie checked on us frequently to ensure we were happyand kept our drinks full. Clean bathrooms as well! Will definitely return & recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Read more
Decent place to go for a night out downtown. Nothing truly superb about this place, but you are able to get a good meal. Service... was fast and friendly, atmosphere is a bit lackluster, and it could use an overhaul of the menu and general "feel" of the place.Just an average restaurant situated in a nice area in downtown Valparaiso. Update: returned 2 months later and still five stars and I stand by my previous review. Staffs a little quirky but great... service. Had an amazing evening late after work at the bar. Food, drinks, staff and service were all exquisite. What a GEM inValpo. Will be returning. A lot. Read more
