What a hidden gem! I can't believe I hadn't been there till now, definitely going back. I absolutely love the atmosphere but... the food! Absolutely amazing! Their habanero salsa was the best salsa I've had anywhere. Husband loved his steak tacos, I lovedmy lamb tacos, and they give a delicious appetizer compliments of the house. Velero's is easily my favorite Mexican restaurant around. They have their own fresh spin and use inspiration from multiple... different islands. The seasonal pomegranate guacamole is my personal favorite. The restaurant is clean, the bathrooms are clean,the food delicious, atmosphere is wonderful, amazing service and you leave full and happy. Instead of the usual chips and salsayou get a complimentary homemade tostitos all doctored up to perfection. If you haven't given this place a try I HIGHLY suggestit. Read more
Over excellence! Excellent dining area, excellent food, Luis and the rest of the staff are top notch! One of our party was... significantly delayed in meeting us for our lunch, and Luis was so patient and willing to work with us. We had the quesofundito with spinacha and mushrooms, the ceviche, al pastor burrito, barbacoa tacos, and pollo tacos. Everything tastes amazing,the salsa Verde that came with the pollo tacos was to die for. Best margaritas we've ever had. The member pf out party who hadthe horchata wishes it were a little thicker, they found it a but thin for their taste. Wow. We had a movie to catch so we were worried about making it in time but we were seated immediately and able to order all at... once and we had time to spare. High quality food with an excellent flavor profile. Plenty of dairy-free options which is hard to come by at a Mexican... restaurant. Price point is fair for the quality, if you are looking for cheap and generic food go elsewhere. I highly recommendthe plantain rice. Waitstaff were quick and efficient. My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. Nestor was our server, and he was great! We ordered guacamole and he also brought us... complimentary taquitos that were fantastic! I ordered Churasco which was skirt steak, chicken breast and Brazilian sausage withbeans and rice and fried plantains. My wife had the skirt steak entrée. Both dishes were incredible!!! Easily the best Mexican restaurant in town. Cozy, clean interior in a less condensed spot in Valpo. Good drink selection. The... menu is varied yet concise in what it offers. They offer familiar favorites as well as unique recipes and market offerings. Theservers and management are very friendly and make you feel valued as a customer. Most importantly, the food is legit amazing; Ihad pork tacos. As someone who is not huge on Mexican food, I can't wait to try other items on the menu. This is an amazing place and anyone in the area should definitely make it a must see. The overall location is extremely clean,... the entryway, the bathrooms, the dining room, very very clean and well-kept. The staff was courteous and extremely quick attaking my order and bringing out the food. The attention to detail for the food was amazing. The way they plated the entree andall the little extras made it completely amazing. And let's not forget about the flavor. I ordered the chicken enchiladas andthey were sooooooo good!
