The 7 course tasting menu for $27/pp is very worth it. The sauce for the roti canai is very very good. The peanuts inside really... brings out the overall flavor of the sauce. The rendang beef + curry veggie + rice is very good. The sauce for all these dishesare very well balanced and complement each other very well. Parking is very limited at the back of the restaurant. It's been many years since I was last here and boy have they updated their space! I feel like the food is still full of classic... Malaysian flavours but the dining room has a much more contemporary feel. They even have their own custom beer from Russell!Price point is comparable to any where else in the city these days. You must dine here. We began our amazing dinning experience with jasmine tea then Roti Canai. This roti was light and fluffy... that paired well with a flavourful, not spicy, curry dipping sauce. So yummy! The pineapple fried rice had shrimps, scallops andit came in a real pineapple. Very fancy! The Malaysian food tasted very authentic. The curried chicken was not spicy andaromatic. This was my second time trying Kalamari. It was very soft on the inside but crispy on the outside and the seasoningwas on point. It was the best Kalamari we ever tried. This restaurant was very clean and everything was set in its place. Thelive plants created a unique ambiance that was comforting while we had dinner during the pandemic. This is what I call socialdistancing and safe while dinning in. (See pics) We felt as if we were in Malaysia. We?ve been to this Banana Leaf location numerous times over the years, and I have to say they?re fairly consistent throughout... their food and service. The decor is pretty up to date, this location is a narrow long seating set up, and only 3 booths areclose to the window. They do have patio seating outside during the summer though. Food was always on point and very good. Iparticularly liked their seafood curry and beef and broccoli dish. The curry has ample amounts of fish, prawns and shellfish.The curry goes really well with rice. The beef and broccoli while is on the sweet side, it also has a deep soy sauce flavour.Their pineapple fried rice is also a must try. Lastly, don?t forget to order the deep fried bananas to wrap up your meal. Thecold vanilla ice cream mixed with the crunchy batter and hot creamy bananas is to die for. Service is always excellent as well.The servers are all really attentive, you can also flag down any server and they will provide service. Throughout our years ofgoing to banana leaf there have been incidents (forgotten order, wrong dish, and etc) but they always strived to make it right.Because of their great service, they?re definitely one of our go to restaurants in the city!
