Wow! What a great experience. We visited here from WA state and. Was really a great spot to stop at. After checking out the... gardens, we stopped here and it was so amazing. The host was able to fulfill our requests which we really appreciated. Ourserver was amazing. He was able to make suggestions and explain any questions we had about the menu. He really worked with us tomake sure we had a great experience. I got the pesto salmon and it was seriously so delicious and the perfect amount of food tokeep me full and happy on the drive back home. There are great vegetarian and gluten free options too. All the meals we had inCanada were great but this meal was the best we had and the perfect way to end our trip! I appreciate the whole staff and theservice we had it was very great. The waiting time was about 10 minutes to get in. Better to have a reservation in advance. Having inside and outside seating. But... outside seating is covered so no problem with raining. Food was good and had a good selection. The place is good with enoughroom, tables are not packed. The staff was polite. But he didn?t pick my order correctly. So had to wait until getting the soup. Went dining after Victoria day long weekend since rsvp already fully booked. Plenty of parking during garden closing hours.... Spacious setting with view of gardens is relaxing. From cocktails (alcohol & spirit-free), appies and meals and desserts aredelicious. Using produce from their garden adds local food charm. Read more

After enjoying a nice walk through the Vandusen botanical gardens we decided to stop in to Shaughnessy's for lunch. We came in... a little bit later in the afternoon 30 minutes before they closed but Tim and everyone that was there working was polite to usand allowed us time enough to eat our meals with an amazing view of the garden. We enjoyed beef burger a shaughnessy salad withlocally sourced vegetables from their garden a truffle parmesan fries with a garlic aioli and a Rosemary gimlet also made withherbs locally sourced from the garden. The view is spectacular. The food is good. And the service is average to slightly above depending on who is serving you. I came... here a few times, and the best experience we got was maybe the gentleman from Bali. You can?t say the service is bad, only thatit?s done, and to be honest, a couple of their servers are abrupt and maybe standard and monotone, but that?s not a crime. Buthey, on the upside, they do have an amazing outdoor section. Sadly, the reviews here are quite disheartening, there are manyone star reviews and while I didn?t have nearly as horrible as an experience as they did, I can certainly see validity in whatthey say. Food was delicious! Couldn't decide between the Seafood or Tarragon Chicken Pot Pie; our waiter highly recommended the chicken,... and so chicken it was! Our group requested patio seating and had a nice corner table. The table service was fine as well. Theonly downside to the evening was our wait at the front counter when arriving to the restaurant. We stood by their 'wait to beseated' sign for 5 to 7 minutes, and no staff acknowledged our presence or let us know we'd be helped shortly. This could be dueto the staffing shortage in the service industry, but it would have still been nice to be greeted at a restaurant like this one!Other than that, the food was the star. Read more
