The Sitar Restaurant provides the entrance to another "reality". One of the oldest East Indian restaurants in Vancouver. The... owner Kulbir is a master chef in the East Indian cuisine tradition. The ambiance, music, art, and the architectural detailinginside creates the feeling of adventure, a trip to another world of smells, tastes, and of course a "chai" tea. Black Indiantea, boiled milk, surgar or honey, cardonmen, cinnamon, amazing taste, and settling contribution after a chicken or lambcurry. The appetizers are not to be forgotten, and best to share! Vegetable pakoras: chick pea flour, onions, spices,spinach, and spices! Pick up with your fingers, and dip in tamarin chutney, and green mint chutney. Something special: AluParatha: stuffed chapati: potato, spices to dip in chutneys and a yogurt dip consisting of shredded cucumber, and blackpepper A wonderful Gastown perennial, for lunch, a mid afternoon delight, and of course a dinner to remember. A great experience for this style of restaurant. The service was great and the food was flavourful. They have hefty portions and... it’s definitely worth a visit, especially for a family outing. If you enjoy the ‘mom and pop’ style restaurants,especially Indian, this place is for you. Read more
