I so enjoyed my stay at the Sylvia. I was there mid week. I like the vintage feel of the hotel. Also, location played a part... in my stay right across from English Bay. My room was on the smallish side but ok for one but maybe not for two. Updatedbathroom. I was lucky to enjoy a quiet visit...no loud neighbors. Small fridge.The housekeeping lady was so friendly...kudosto her. Check in was efficient and friendly. I would stay here again. There's a Safeway close by. I discovered the RedUmbrella cafe up the street on Davie. Good breakfast. Read more

I love the fish and chips, crab cakes, and the chicken wings. Savory and delicious. They gave generous servings to us and our... orders were given quickly. We didn't have to wait that long for them to arrive. We felt really comfortable at this place andalso felt valued as customers. Place is great, it has a nice atmosphere and felt very comfortable dining here. I like the lighting and the indoor set up of... seating. Staff are welcoming to us and we were seated almost as soon as we arrived. Our server help us with deciding what toorder by giving some recommendations since it is our first time here. Absolutely loved my stay at Sylvia's. You can't beat the location or charm. I was travelling with family and booked the Classic... 3-Bed unit and it was beautiful - just like the photos. I had requested a higher floor and that was accommodated, giving usmostly unobstructed views and a sneak peek of the English Bay. The room was comfortable although we couldn't figure out theheating/cooling system. The general feel of the entire hotel is classic and filled with character which is beautiful but I dowish there were slight updates in their amenities like their coffee maker. I also wish there was more seating in the living areafor a room that is meant to accommodate up to 5 people. Nevertheless, I would definitely stay here again. Enjoyed the fish and chips. We told the server that we would share it - good thing we did because the fish was so large! They... were nice enough to split the dish into two servings. This is a review of the hotel, not the restaurant. Overall we were very happy with the Sylvia hotel. I found it reasonably... priced given the prime location at the park, and services were well run. Sylvia, unlike the 4 star Westin Berlin we stayed atlast month, still serves room service all day. They have ample hotel staff to help with guidance and services. DO NOTE: thehotel is in an amazingly beautiful old building which opened in 1912. So it can feel a little dated at times. It also didn?thave A/C. These trivial items took away a little from the experience. But overall a well run operation that we were delighted tofind. Read more
