Reviews for Vennie's Sub Shop in Vancouver, BC

I was looking for a sandwich for myself and my partner and my regular go to place was closed under renovation. I found Vennie's... and the reviews were good so I headed there. I chose the classic sub and based on the hefty prices I thought I would be in for atreat. I was informed that the $19.90 version is the same size with more meat. Spending over $30 ($15+ each) for two subs wouldbe too expensive, so I opted for the extra meat version to split between the two of us. Cheese was extra, so my bill came to$20.90. I paid with a $20 and a $5, they didn't have adequate change...not even a loonie. I said to keep the change thinking agenerous tip might translate into a happy exchange of a delicious custom sub sandwich. I was given a roll of paper of identicalsize to a costco hotdog, only a fair bit lighter in weight. The bread was a cheap bland white bun, and the meat is anysupermarket deli quality, with romaine lettuce. The vietnamese sandwich shops in town have a tasty white bun, and wonderbreadcan even produce a better decent meat holder. My partner doesn't like condiments so I excluded the barbeque sauce that thissandwich was supposed to come with. In summary, I paid $25 for 3 bites of disappointment. And they forgot the cheese. Good choice of sandwiches, good products. The only thing I would maybe try to improve is maybe have a steamer for the subs... bread. It is quite dry frankly. I can understand why some people wouldn't be impressed paying over 17$ for a sub with thisbread. That being said understanding the quality of ingredients involved it is worth paying more than a subway for somethingbetter. Read more

I ordered a fried bologna sandwich online. I couldn't get away from work to pick it up so I called to let them know. They'd... already made my sandwich so I said I'd come get it in a couple hours. When I came to pick it up my original sandwich was waitingbut the staff offered to make me a fresh one. They rushed my order and I had a fresh sandwich 5 minutes later. That's thoughtfulcustomer service! The sandwich was even better than I expected. I'd highly recommend trying it out. Read more

By far, the best Reuben in the city. Quality corned beef piled high, with perfect sauce and sauerkraut, and just the right... amount of melted swiss. Definitely a 5-star sandwich. The Classic Deli sub had great fillings, but the bread was a miss - dryand slightly stale. Note that the regular and large are on the same size bread, but the large has more meat (225g vs the regularwhich has 150g). Go for the large! Street corn salad was tasty and well dressed, but would be significantly better with freshcorn. Parking is convenient with a small lot right out front, and if the lot is full, there's a bunch of street parking nearby.Expect a wait, especially during busy times. The quality sandwiches take time to make! Read more

A true love affair with sandwiches! Vennie?s Sub Shop delivered the experience I was on a quest for when it came to finding a... classic deli sandwich done right. The bread. The bread! Don?t get me started on the bread!! Idk how much gluten is contained inthat piece of bread but every bite was heavenly. Soft but firm, it encased all the fixings inside as I bit into it over and overagain until I realized I gobbled down the first half within a minute. ???? The spicy red pepper relish is the real star of thesub though as it tied all the flavours together. Every ingredient was perfectly layered so every bite was blissful from one endto the other. The potato salad is ????. Like a smack in the face, it woke my taste buds up. However, the corn salad wasn?t doingit for me, couldn?t help but feel like it was missing something. ???? Lastly, I can?t remember what my thoughts were on thehousemade Peach Lemonade. I?m sure it wasn?t bad but also not memorable enough for me to say much on it. Definitely would berefreshing on a hot summer day. With all that said, I look forward to coming back and trying the Fried Bologna and many more!Save your money, skip Subway and go check out Vennie?s. Your wallet might not thank you but the endorphins going through yourbrain will once you bite into this sub! Read more

A+ sando shop. Always fresh and made to order. I haven't had a bad sandwich here yet. Standouts include the American Deli, Warm... Pastrami, and my personal favourite, the bologna. Always a lunch stop if I'm in the area, I've literally had dreams involvingthese sandwiches. Read more

I really wanted to like this place as I?m always trying to find a great Italian deli sub however, the Classic Deli was only... mediocre. We enjoyed the toppings but the bread tasted too stale to fully enjoy the sandwich. The worst part was the price ofthis sandwich. I opted for the large as me and my boyfriend were sharing. The price was $17 which seemed quite high. Also, it?snot a large in the size of bread, the large just has extra meat. (150 grams versus 225 grams) Didn?t understand this whenordering so maybe that?s my fault for not asking. Yeah, 2 outta 5. The search continues? Read more

Tried the fried bologna sandwich. Decent overall. Staff really friendly. Bun was nicely toasted - would have liked a bit more... crispiness to the bologna. Sauce was a bit overpowering with mustard/vinegar flavour. Only their second day open though, I?ll beback again to try a different sandwich. Read more
