1949, Lincoln Grill in Hilo, Hawaii. Some teenagers request something cheap and fast from Nancy Inouye that isn't a sandwich.... Nancy throws some rice in a bowl, grills up a burger and then throws some brown gravy on it (the over easy egg came later). Theteenagers decided to name it for a friend named George Okimoto, or "crazy" as they called him. Another friend, George Takahashi, who was taking a Spanish class, said Loco would be a good name for it and then put moco on the end just because it rhymed. Likea lot of Hawaiian food, it's basically struggle food, but I get a hankering for it from time to time. This place was on the newsa couple of weeks ago so I decided to try theirs. Patties are chargrilled and they don't short you on the gravy unlike someplaces!???? Probably the best Loco Moco I've had since I was last in Maui. I haven't had it at Kiawe yet though so there'sthat. Also, I kind of laughed a little about their teriyaki tidbit on their menu with the suggestion to put it on their macsalad. I've been doing this since forever, but I guess it's not a well known thing. Their teriyaki sauce is bomb too. Boldflavor compared to some other watered down versions. Mac salad doesn't make sense to a lot of people. Again, it's kind ofstruggle food, but throw some teriyaki on it and see how it elevates. Read more

I absolutely 100% love this place! It never let me down!!! It always taste amazing! I can?t say enough good things about the... food here. The food quality high but the food quantity is insane. If the get their bigger portion you can easily make twomeals or a meal and a snack out of it. Soooo definitely if you near here you got to try and eat at this place 100% it?s worthevery penny! First time here, after putting it off and forgetting to try it for almost 6 years, and I am so sad I slept on it so long! The... flavor of the char on the chicken is amazing (I had the Hoku's bbq chicken), and the katsu is perfectly crisp, and has a niceflavor in the breading. I would love to come back, but even the smaller portion is like 3 meals, so I may never need to eatagain! Read more

I ordered catering for my daughters grad party from Hawaiian Style Grill. I had never eaten here before but my daughter wanted... Hawaiian food for the party and other locals restaurants were booked. I am so happy we ended up with Hawaiian Style Grill. Theservice for ordering was impeccable. They were so prompt in returning my emails and so unbelievably kind. On the day of pickupthe food was just being completed at pickup time so it was as fresh as possible and wow, it was sooooooo good. Our guests ravedabout how good the food was the entire party. The pricing was amazing, the package came with all the serving supplies andutensils you need. I ordered for serving 40. We had more than 40, many who ate two plates, and we still had leftovers. Cannotrecommend this restaurant enough for catering a party. I'm excited to try the dine in experience as well. Thanks Hawaiian StyleGrill! Read more

This is a nice place to get away from the burgers, fried chicken and taco fast food. I am not Hawaiian, although I've been... there 3 times, their food is amazing. Of course I didn't sample everything there, but what I ate was great! It was veryflavorful. I ate the Katsu Moco, which was like breaded chicken on rice with gravy and an egg on top. My eyes were bigger thanmy stomach because I ordered two Spam Musubis, which were also amazing. I had food for two days. Nice little, clean, unassumingplace in a strip mall, gotta try it. Read more

Been eating here for years. First time came here with my boyfriend (now husband) several years ago. At first I was skeptic but... when I tried the food oh boy! Never disappoints! Portions are great. Meat is always good. And their Mac salad is amazing when Idrench it in their soy sauce. Prices are reasonable too. Trust me you?ll love it. Read more
