Amazing dining experience here! Visiting Vashon for a wedding and Bramble House came up on several lists so decided to see if we... could get a reservation. Lucked out and they had space so we got to go. Everything was delicious, we had a nice Pinot Gris, theraviolo, mixed green salad, truffle garlic bread, patatas bravas, fettuccine bolognese and risotto. We were planning our first visit to Vashon Island and had done some research on where to go for dinner. Most websites ranked... "Bramble House" very high on the list. So this was the only location we knew we must visit while we were on the island. We madereservations a few days in advance. Upon arrival, the cute older house used for the restaurant is easy to find. It is at theend of town and has a sign in the front lawn with bulb lights around it. Parking is found on the side of the building. You walkthrough a pink front door and are greeted by the staff and a modern contemporary interior. The tables are spaced a good distanceapart. There are two options (indoor or outdoor dining). Outdoor dining takes place in a tent located behind the house. For ourdinner we chose indoor dining. The menu is limited but don't let that fool you. The items that are offered are high quality withgreat taste. We ordered: 1. Local Greens Salad, cucumber, snap peas & radish, red wine vinaigrette 2. Crispy Half Chicken,spruce tip marinade, fennel mash, parsley-spring onion salad 3. Dark Chocolate Mousse, salted caramel, candied peanuts Thelocal greens salad was full of vegetables that tasted very fresh. The amount of cucumber, snap peas, and radish was great. Theonly feedback for this item was that the dressing became a little too strong after a while. This may be fine for some, whileothers may find the sourness a little overpowering toward the end of the dish. Now, on to easily the best part of the dinner.The crispy chicken dish alone is worth the full 5 stars. The chicken was cooked perfectly, allowing the meat to maintain enoughjuice and tenderness while also not making mess. The fennel mash was the highlight of this item. Mix some of the chicken stockwith the mash and the flavors mix so well together. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was very good. The Bramble House is a little gem on Vashon Island. This little restaurant is great with both indoor and outdoor seating seating... options, comfortable ambience, wonderful staff, and decent entree options. Parking is limited and you may potentially have topark in the grass (mud if it is precipitating). Staff is friendly, patient, and kind. There was never a time when I feltneglected by the host or the waiter. The prices are a bit on the expensive side so expect to pay a pretty penny when ordering. All staff is still expected to wear face masks to protect and prevent its customers from COVID spread. The food quality isfantastic. Home made and delicious! 4 star review because their menu is limited with only a few options: about two appetizers,five main entrées, and six sides. They do have a plethora or local wines and other drinks being offered. Really really good place. The dishes are all good, though the most flavorful is the duck. Good selection of wines and you cannot... go wrong with either of them. The garlic bread is good and the garlic is not overpowering at all. Great option for an appetizer. Read more
RARE 5Start rating. Had dinner at Bramble House with my lovely Bride over a long weekend on Vashon Island. Shared the Truffle... G-Bread and Fresh Mozzeralla. Excellent preparation and taste. I had the Duck Confit and Spouse had the Fettucine Bolognese; both were very fine meals. Very good Price to Value. Note, reservations are nearly a requirement; if you plan to be on theisland for a special occasion plan ahead. We lucked out as it was a very slow weekend with not much tourism. Still there wereonly two tables not filled. Highly recommended, we're certain to be back next time we're there. Read more
This place does a a LOT of things right. The food is downright PERFECTION. They take their time and use the best ingredients and... execute amazing dishes. They do, however, run on island time. We?ve only visited (from NE King County!) for 3 meals, so I willupdate my review after visit # 4 (likely not for a few months - one can only handle so much ?Vashon?), but on our first 3visits, we?ve found the food preparation timeline to be strangely, oddly, weirdly slow. As in, for all 3 meals, there weren?tbut 2 or 3 other couples in the entire restaurant, and the food took FOREVER to come out. There?s only so much attention you canget from your waitress - so many water refills, so many mimosas, so many glasses of wine, before you just want your damn food,already. I know ?good food takes time?, but there?s something just ?off? about the wait for food, here. Beyond just ?takingcare? to prepare art on a plate. Make the art, but make it faster! The food here truly is art and some of the best we?ve hadanywhere in the world, but I shudder at the though of a busy summer evening where the place is packed. It must take EONS to getyour food, when they have a FULL house! The wait staff does their best to work around the slow dish preparation, but thekitchen could learn to be a little more expeditious when preparing their divine dishes. Period. No excuses, just work onit. Fine dining (which this is - and not just for Vashon) is not just about the food - it?s even possible to overcome mediocrefood with an otherwise great experience. I?m not talking like Hooter?s! I mean you can get great service/fast service/attentiveservice, get your food in a reasonable amount of time, and if the food was just average, you still had a great EXPERIENCE. Hereat Bramble House, so far (again, only 3 meals) we?ve come to expect an average (at best) EXPERIENCE, but amazing food. So, bringa great date/tablemate - heck bring a crowd! Lovely romantic or just a getaway type of atmosphere. Phenomenal food, helpful friendly staff. We went for brunch and enjoyed... the fresh squeezed mimosas and the bramble scramble and the duck chilaquiles- all were super tasty. Read more
