Reviews for The Hardware Store Restaurant in Vashon, WA

Overwhelming, underwhelming. Our total bill for two adults and one child was $75. The quality of food was a serious let down... considering the prices we paid. Not only that, but the prices charged did not match the advertised prices on their menu both instore and online. Each entree had a 3-5 discrepancy. When asked about this issue the manager seemed annoyed. Our daughterordered a child’s pasta with cheese and added chicken breast. When we received it it was a grilled breast on top of wateredbowtie and lightly sprinkled with Parmesan. No child would’ve touched this. The child’s meal was $18. We made a day tripspecifically to experience something new and with great reviews. As a young family this kind of money for a meal is a specialtreat and I’m very disappointed it was wasted here. What better place to view Vashon over a hot cup of coffee than The Hardware Store. We were first in the door on a beautiful,... crisp, sunny Sunday morning, and coffee quickly appeared. Nice friendly service. The Vashon Breakfast is aptly named-perfecteggs, the potatoes are the best we’ve had. So crunchy and flavorful! Oh, the Eggs Benedict-simply amazing- nice salty hamsupporting creamy, not gushy runny eggs, and the same crispy potatoes. And, go see KD Lang’s guitar! I admit I gave it a weetune up. Read more

We were on the island for a bachelorette party and went here for dinner on a Saturday night. Since there were 5 of us we made a... reservation. We had great service and great food. Three of the five got the fried chicken and mashed potatoes which they ravedabout. I had the burger and fries, which was cooked to my liking. A great standard burger. The last person got the Mac andcheese which I thought was underwhelming with the noodle choices but they loved it! I'd go here again if I found myself onVashon. Read more

The food of the hardware store restaurant is great and the waitresses & waiters are friendly! Definitely recommend the... doughnuts, pork tonkatsu, and steak. The doughnuts are not too sweet and fluffy, very delicious. The streak and pork katsu aretasty. They are juicy and the meat are soft, not greasy. For the cocktail, I’d like to recommend hard raspberry lemonade.Sweet and sour, fresh! The only thing I’d like to complain is the portion. Read more

Traveled to the island as a first time visitor and had no set plan, other than to just wander and explore. We were starving and... hadn't eaten since breakfast so we also wanted to sit but not wait and my son's picky eating was in play on this one so he justwanted a burger or familiar food, no risk taking on this one. We were on foot and the only options we could find were pizza orThe Hardware Store Restaurant. I don't prefer to get pizza when traveling as I have a teenager....there's plenty of pizza inour lives. I actually did hear about an Italian restaurant on the island that makes 00 flour crusted pizza with importedingredients from Italy but it wasn't where we were. ???? I was hoping to go there. We did not have to wait and were given thebooth we asked for. My son had the "Impossible Burger" and said it was because most restaurants Impossible burgers aren'tImpossible. ????????. I had panko fried cod and fries. I thought I ordered the sandwich so I could have the cole slaw but Idon't know. I ordered some on the side. The cod was very good and my son thoroughly enjoyed his Impossible Burger. I had a bitof traveling-all-day brain or mind-set so I didn't think to verify if it was truly impossible but he had no trouble eatingthat, drinking an amazing root-beer and oh man mouth watering clam chowder. Had I known I would have just had the chowder...soooo good!! The staff was so friendly and my son is a talker but everyone just engaged in his conversation. Even offered upsome suggestions on which stores within walking distance were worth a visit after hearing what we were interested in. The billwas a little....well shocking. It's my fault and I'm not sure where my receipt went but without tip it was $68.00. ???? Ourplates were just under $20 each and the soup was $10. I'm not sure how it got to $68 bucks? I tipped 25% because the waitresstruly was worth it. But yeah.....more expensive than I planned. I'm no "karen" and at the end of the day I co Read more

This place is honestly so good. The food is such a delicious version of classic recipes. We had biscuits & gravy, Vashon... breakfast (amazing crispy bacon), french toast (off the kid’s menu - don’t miss it!), and this donut that changed my life.Jana was such a delightful server, this place made me wish we lived on Vashon & could come every weekend. Amazing food and service! Dined here twice during a three-day stay and had breakfast and lunch. Good portions, great mimosas... and great service. Cannot express enough how you HAVE to try the key lime pie, made fresh everyday. Shout out to all thestaff, especially Kenzie. Will visit again, for sure. Read more
