My friend and I visited, with a reservation, at 1:30 on a Saturday and while it was busy and our table was small - I really... can’t complain. The service did not suffer, in fact it was terrific. The food came out fast and was exceptional. Beyond, infact! The quality for the price seems fair. It’s a popular place that doesn’t really need my review to succeed. But it’sso good I feel compelled to share that if you’ve heard it is but you wondered if it really did live up to the hype? I don't know why I never stopped in for breakfast here. The breakfast foods were phenomenal. I got the Moroccan baked eggs,... which had flavorful lamb sausage accompanied with a wonderful tomato sauce and mint yogurt. My wife got the duck hash which wascooked perfectly and had a fun, tangy mustard sauce. Also the michelada was probably the best I've had in town. Our serverRigoberto was the man too. Read more
My best friend and I met in LA after not having seen each other for 5 years. A former chef, she chose this place. It was... magical. The food was exquisite (perhaps the best pizza I’ve ever tasted), but our server — ! It was kind of like being ateacher with a new, charming student you suspect is compensating for lack of intellect and realizing you were wrong after heaces the first test. Our server was effervescent and witty. But he also knew everything there was to know about the menu, andthen some. It’s rare to find that blend of joy and expertise, but if any place provides fertile ground to cultivate thatcombo, Gjelina does so with aplomb. His recs — impeccable, thoughtful, and spot on — reflected his genuine love of theplace and its truly special product: simple, unbelievably delicious food. Gjelina is a go to place for me every time I visit Venice. The best brick oven pizza to me. Thin yet good texture, the toppings... are always fresh, mozzarella is super creamy. My last visit we took out probably 2-3 times! Read more
This is a great spot — inventive, delicious dishes and super friendly service. It can get pricy for the portions and the menu... can be a little complex (especially for brunch), but it’s hard to order something bad. Vegetarians — beware the baked eggs(lamb) but don’t miss the veggie sandwich!!! Read more
