By far the best Sushi I?ve had in a long time, everything from the suggested pan fried edamame, miso soup and salad starter... through the Sashimi and Sushi platters. All finished off with the ice cream sampler!! Black Sesame ice cream is one thing I?venever had before, it was a perfect finish off to our night. If your lucky enough to get Ashton for your server be prepared forone of the most attentive and knowledgeable servers to grace the serving world. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. This was my first time at Kawakubo. It is really good quality Japanese food. It gets busy by 6pm so make sure you're here before... that to guarantee a seat for yourself. The staff and the owner are all very friendly and pleasant. Prior to tip, our meal cost$39.90 for summertime rolls, yam tempura cone, miso soup, scallop cone, another roll, and a Sprite. The food was absolutelydelicious. They have a big menu. I highly recommend this restaurant. There are so many great Japanese restaurants in downtownVernon which is great to see. Read more
Kawakubo is always a great place to go. It's always busy, and the staff is amazing and friendly. If you're looking for a gluten... free sushi restaurant where you can have their rolls as well as the donburi bowls, you are in luck! Kawakubo uses quality ingredients for their sushi. I was quite impressed with their rolls and the variety that they offer. I... ordered takeout and they forgot the soy sauce. Sushi without soy sauce just isn't the same, unfortunately. Read more
We?ve been to sushi restaurants all around Kamloops, Vernon and Kelowna This is the best sushi I have had. The rice is bright,... never mushy, perfect. We enjoyed a variety of rolls which were comprised perfectly; no cheapo sauces or overbearing extras. Thesauces and toppings were well thought out and all delicious (The spicy salmon roll was our favourite) I really loved theservice as well. Such a warm welcome, felt very comfortable.
