Stopped in for a Chicago dog, Onion rings, and ended up ordering another one. The greenest relish I have ever scene. The huge... pickle and celery salt with onions and a dab of mustard. No peppers. The place wasn?t busy but it was 8:30 and it looked like itwas busy earlier. The onion rings were very good. The chocolate milkshake so thick. We will have to stop in one more time beforewe leave. Been to this location many times. Fantastic employees (kudos to the lady at Portillo?s that is super enthusiastic!). Food is so... tasty- house salad dressing is amazing, veg dog is the best veg dog I?ve ever had (store or restaurant bought). Will be goingback again! Read more
Not too shabby! My husband and I moved to Chicago Nov of 2021, and we have been hearing about ?Chicago staples? since then so we... gave this a try. Really fun interior design, plenty of seating, and the place seems to stay busy - which is a nice change givenall the quiet of the past two years. Service is pretty efficient for the number of orders they take. We really came for theChicago style Polish, but I forgot to mention the ?Chicago style? so we ended up with their other polish sausage, with grilledonion and mustard. I personally wouldn?t order it again, and next time we?ll be sure to tell them Chicago style. Their burgerwas great, so much better than a lot of other popular chains right now. We both enjoyed sharing it and would recommend it. Onlyissue, the bun got soggy very quickly, which isn?t a big issue in my mind, cuz I tend to get rid of the bread anyway. Frieswere good; a bit too salty. We saw the many recommendations for the cheese sauce, and that was a bit of nostalgia. It remindedme of going to sporting events as a child, and the cheese sauce they would serve with everything. The chopped salad was nicetoo. Very fresh, love that they give you dressing on the side even for dine in orders, as it is better to not have a soggy,overly saturated salad. Overall, we were happy. Visit this place every time we are back in Illinois. Nothing like it in lower AL. They should open one! Love the chopped... chicken salad, hotdogs, Italian Beef. And, don't get me started on the chocolate cake and lemon cake...ridiculously good! Read more
Portillo's leaps way past Five Guys! Super fresh toppings on portillo's burgers and dogs separate them from the other burger... places in the area. The grilled flavor is excellent. The fries are really good. Let's face it, if Portillo's goes national, it'sgoing to put the other places to shame. The staff was amazing, my wife noticed it right away! She was very pleased with the ladythat took the orders, she had such a very nice demeanor, it was refreshing. The young man who did the table, wiping it off anddisinfecting it was very particular about making sure the entire table was clean top to bottom. I would have to say, that is ararity even in this covid-19 era. We had a retirement party on zoom, and so we bought a whole chocolate cake. Boy is thattasty.???????????? Read more
A Chicago staple you have to try. They are known for their Italian Beef which I recommend with the sweet peppers. My husband... tried the Maxwell Street Polish sausage and it was just ok. Everyone also raves about the chocolate cake shake. We thought itwas decent but definitely overhyped. I still recommend trying it out for yourself! Read more
Portillos is always a top tier joint. While my Spicy Chicken Sandwich was very delicious! My girlfriend went with the Chicken... Diavolo Pasta and it was a tad bit lacking in the flavor department. Tasted bland and not what it once used to be. The frieswere perfect! Loved the crispy exterior with airy fluff interior. Now the Chocolate Cake shake I heard MANY great things aboutbut never got around to it. This time I did and can I say it certainly lives up to the hype. It was so delicious and the cake atthe bottom what next level! I loved it so much. While the pasta wasn?t to what we remember it being. Portillos is a pretty famous place, cake shake and what not- but this location was just okay. Food was fine (not mind blowing)... but the running from counter to counter to counter to get food and condiments and napkins and straws was a bit dissappointing. Iwish they just had everything or most things at 1 counter- not 3. Read more
