Horrible experience. I think this place is under new management. Service was horrible. We had to wait an hour for a cup of... coffee at a coffee house!! No coffee on hand at a coffee house? The oatmeal we ordered was cold. Brunch took almost 2 hours. Iwas brought a credit card reader for my bill. I asked if there is a surcharge and was told “no”. Get my bill and there is acredit card surcharge. No posting anywhere about a surcharge for credit. I say this place used to be great but Joe anymore.Avoid!! Read more
Blue Hippo has a great atmosphere, well thought out menu and tasty food. Somehow though I would struggle to go back.. execution... matters and that’s where they missed, big time. 28 minutes for two lattes and 16mins after that for two egg dishes. Theowners/managers were standing around whispering to each other and allowing the staff to fall flat without help or direction. Thestaff are super friendly but lack guidance. While waiting it became apparent that everyone in the place was having a similarexperience: online orders incorrect or incomplete, coffee delays, confusion in order timing. Walking in you want to love thisplace, walking out you don’t want to come back and wouldn’t be able to recommend it. Read more
This place is so close to being great but it always just misses the mark. The food and staff are great but the ordering process... is always so over complicated and bulky. Lots of confusion about online orders, who enters them, what the wait time is, whereyou should wait, which register to go to when you walk in. Today we ordered an online order and when we arrived 20 minuteslater, someone explained they hadn’t entered our order into their system yet. They also didn’t have one of the items thatwas available on their website so we had to replace it with something else, and on top of that, their online system was missingcertain menu items that I wanted to order. When I attempted to call, the line was disconnected for 15 minutes. Once I walked inthey eventually straightened it out, but only after another 20-minute in-person wait, which has become normal here. Great local cafe with a hip vibe. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Nice healthy menu with sweet pastries and scones as well.... Loved the outdoor seating but not for a hot day like today. Cute couch arrangement in rear. For a minute I could have been inPark Slope or Saugerties. This one’s a keeper and just 2 mins from home. Read more
Fantastic experience here at Blue Hippo Coffee Co. The staff is super friendly and the interior vibes are perfect. Love the... drinks. Tried an iced latte and iced lavender matcha latte. Both were delicious. The food was also great. Definitely recommendthe breakfast bowl and biscuit sandwiches. Now for my standard COVID comments as of June 2022. Masks aren’t mandatory.Seating is distanced though could get crowded if busy. Didn’t have any issue personally though! Read more
First off I liked exterior nice presentation, nice and clean. Entering the business is welcoming with a home vibe. It's quite... interesting seeing blue hippos around the store. Looking at the menu I had a hard decision but I chose the egg Sammy with aniced Chai tea on the side. Everything tasted really good and so fresh! The staff was really nice also. Definitely have to stopby again for the desserts! Read more

Was really excited to try this place because of the ratings, but any restaurant that ignores food allergies gets a permanent 1... star from me. Coffee was okay. EDIT: Partner let me tried their coffee. It was horrible. Tried to get a chicken sandwich withthe onions and mayo removed—I'm allergic to onions. I love them, but they give me an awful anaphylactic reaction. Received asandwich with only onions and mayo. No idea what went wrong here, but for $17, this is unacceptable. There are a ton of otherexcellent options in the area... Bad luck to me for trying a new place. I recommend Bagelwich Bagel Bakery, only a minute away. Read more
