This place is INCREDIBLE! We had the miso soup, the margaritas, Tsunami roll, as well as the scorpion roll and chocolate peanut... butter cheesecake for desert. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back. Read more

We had a reservation for 14 on a busy Friday night. The place was so packed we had to park across the road. We waited a while to... get seated but it was worth it! Employees were very friendly, service was great and continuous. They did an excellent jobkeeping our orders straight and food was delicious. Portion size was crazy. Not complaining. Had left overs for 2 days! Yum! Read more

This was our first time visiting Kampai and it was wonderful. The Ambience is that of an actual Tokyo or Kyoto steakhouse with... Hibachi, traditional Japanese, and sushi style dining. The staff (female) wear a colorful kimono dress and the males wear blackvests and black pants. The hibachi meals are shared with other guests and reservations for these are highly recommended toensure that your party is able to be together and the show involved with the meal preparation is always fun and entertaining. The traditional Japanese and sushi dishes are amazing and very skillfully prepared. There is also a very diverse selection ofwines, cocktails and, beers, and sake from which to choose from. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and theportions are generous. This is a family friendly environment but there are plenty of private alcoves available to have aromantic dinner for two without issue. There is plenty of parking and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They take bothcash and cards to meet the needs of their patrons. We are absolutely going to come back as our experience was beyond words andrecommend this hidden gem to everyone. Read more

I had dinner at Kampai while visiting friends in Vestal, and we had an AMAZING omakase experience. I wish I took more photos of... our food to do the meal justice, but these few will have to suffice. The head sushi chef was super friendly, attentive to ourtaste requests (which was just to go on a delicious adventure!) and dished up beautifully crafted plates. The fish was fresh andhearty (no skimping on cuts here!) and the simple vanilla ice cream dessert was made decadent with gold sugar decoration andfruit details. Besides the 12 out of 10 food, Kampai's ambiance is fantastic. While we enjoyed our more intimate dinnerexperience at the sushi bar, there were larger groups enjoying the hibachi tables, something I would like to try on my nextvisit. I also appreciated that the restaurant manager took the time to check in on us, which was very thoughtful, especiallysince it was a busier night. I can understand why Kampai has been in business since 1975 and I look forward to my next visit! Read more

Nine of us had dinner here Monday night for my daughter's birthday. The food and entertainment were great in general. A good... time was had by all. Gave only four stars for two reasons. Number one, my wife clearly declined the shrimp in the mouth throwbut the chef went ahead and bounced one off her face anyways. It hit her on her glasses (thank God she wears glasses so itdidn't hit her eye) and left a big greasy smear on the lens. Not cool!! Number two, we each ordered a sushi roll for ourappetizer. I ordered the Fallen Angel expecting a little heat with the Habanero but there was none. Eight were deliveredshortly after that. Mine didn't arrive until my dinner came. Not sure what happened there but by then I was ready for mydinner and didn't need it, so it was a bit of a waste. We rarely saw the gal who took our order because they use other peopleto bring the orders out so I had no chance to ask her where my sushi roll was. Read more

Cannot best the hibachi style dining! Great food and a whole'lotta fun too! The one and only down fall is the fact that it is... always very, VERY hot in there. Would be nice to have some better air circulation especially when sitting around the hibachi! Thanks! Read more

I was very excited to go on a date at what appeared to be a great place to eat in the Binghamton area. Sadly, all of the reviews... seemed to be very wrong and misleading. To start off with, it took an hour before we even got any food on our table… and theplace was not even busy. Once we got our food the experience only got worse. We ordered the udon noodles and tofu teriyak tosplit. For some reason, after an hour of waiting the only food that was brought to our table was the rice. The fried rice tastedlike it was left in a bucket of sewage water that sat out for at least 24 hours. The white rice wasn’t bad, but that doesn’tmean much because it’s pretty hard to mess up white rice. Then after 20 minutes of only having our rice for some reason, ournoodles and tofu finally came out. We were very hungry, and unfortunately we also left very hungry. The noodles tasted like fishsoap and the vegetables were straight out of a microwaved bag. We asked for the tofu to be fried, and it was soft and soggy.I’m very disappointed. Go to any other Japanese place, but do not go here. Read more
