We got there before the theatre rush, and ordered our food right away as our server took a while to arrive and greet us. Our... server was very attentive at first, filling our glasses unprompted ???? We waited over an hour for our food withoutcommunication from the server, who seemed to be less attentive. I?m guessing busy. Two meals came out 10 minutes at least beforemy simple soup and salad. All meals were cold, except the soup. We finished and then waited another 15-20 minutes for our serverto return. I went and found another server to ask for our bill and explain that I needed to get my 1 year old son to bed, andthat our food took forever. Our server finally came back with the bill after I saw her texting in the bathroom ???? And I feltreally disappointed that there was no communication around our experience there and spending well over $100. I?ve worked in theservice industry for a long time. I understand backed up kitchens and long chit times, but communication and accountability isabsolutely key for a great experience. Read more

I haven?t been to the Fernwood Inn in many years because of past experiences that weren?t great. I decided to give it another... shot because it?s been so long. The pros?it?s a cute spot in a great neighbourhood. There?s a friendly community vibe. However Ithink the pleasant atmosphere is more due to the patrons than the business itself. The servers were friendly but slow andinattentive. I felt like we were being reprimanded when were told it was last call for food, even though we had been waitingages to order. The food was bad. I ordered the avocado cod burger and there were very few redeeming qualities. It was a thickbut small piece of cod that seemed more like a nugget so I felt like I was eating an empty bun 90% of the time and when I didget a bite of fish it was over cooked and flavourless. The bun was stale and the sauce was flavourless. The fries were frozen.Overall, the atmosphere was lovely but the food and service were awful. I might go back for happy hour beers but that?s all. Great dining experience! There's a wide variety of food options from multiple cuisines and the prices are completely reasonable... (I highly recommend the tofu bowl). Plenty of places to sit, inside and out. The area makes this place really enjoyable becausethere are a couple cute shops and a market right next door! Read more

A most excellent place for a pint with a friend. Service was good. They even allow you to bring your dog The flatiron steak... wasn't the best. Very thin and not likely sourced from the best butcher. But it was definitely served on a stale bun. Waschasing the meal all over the plate but it kept getting away on me... Read more

What a great little neighbourhood pub! So nice to have a place within walking distance. I grew up in the Fernwood area and... always wished there were food options (besides a few corner stores that are now gone). Anyway, love the food, beer, and ambianceof the older building. Will see you again soon. Read more

Group of 4, we were seated then a waitress said she had to take a half table and I moved. The table was put beside ours, another... group came in and they sat down and the waitress gave them the half table, which they didn?t even use. My drink was forgottenfor over 40 minutes, until I asked for it again. When it came, it was wrong. Took over an hour to get our food, which arrivedcold, congealed and hard. Our waitress was kind and tried to fix the drink after we were done eating and removed it from thebill. She did not listen to our requests on other drinks, offering us more wine, we said no but she poured more into the glassesanyway and when we asked for more water, it never came. She was present physically but seemed distracted. I was reallydisappointed with this experience. It was my first time here, and I will not be back. Read more

Stumbled across this gem off the beaten path on route to pick up a book at a used bookstore, and I'm really glad we did!! The... historic charm of the building and neighbourhood is immediate. With street and retractable canopy outdoor seating, and indoorrestaurant and bar places to sit, there are plenty of options to enjoy a beverage and a bite to eat. The food was great as wasthe service! Read more

Went with my fiancee and a friend a few weeks ago. Definitely a nice neighborhood pub- currently nice for outdoor seating, and... seems to be OK with the dogs outdoors. The speed of service was good, we didn't have to wait longer than about 8-10 minutesuntil our order was taken, and it looked like a busy night. The food was brought out in a timely manner as well, nothing wasmissing, food was hot. I has the fish burger with avocado. Unfortunately the avocado didn't do so much for me but it was goodnonetheless. I would definitely come back to try more menu items, as they looked really good as well. Read more
