The vibe here is like walking into your kinfolk's house for Sunday brunch. It has that small town vibe with friendly, down to... earth staff, home style cooking, and the bench on the front porch is a nice touch. Pros: 1. The food is hearty homestylecooking. 2. Staff is friendly and attentive 3. Prices are very reasonable. 4. The place is tidy both inside and outsideincluding bathroom. 5. It's conveniently located right off the highway and near the flea market. 6. Wheelchair accessibleramp. Cons: 1. It's ok. I wouldn't recommend simply because of the steep price point for low teir food. $12.99!! I went on Wednesday during... fried pork chop day. First, they used bone in fried pork chops so it was a little of a nuisance guessing where to cut because ofthe bone rather than going at a grilled pork chop. The Mac&Cheese was Kraft. 100% Kraft with added sliced or shredded cheese.Don't believe me? Look at the pictures. The white gravy tastes exactly like the packet gravy I used last night. Most of the porkchops were also overly cooked on their batter so the batter was super crunchy. Don't get me going on their glazed carrots. Theywere sitting in the broth when I received them which is fine because I expected them to be cooked. Instead they turned out to bewarm, crunchy, raw, carrots. Be warned. This place is overly priced, there are plenty of better quality buffets to go to for aneven cheaper price point in this area. Would have rated higher if the food quality matched the price point. Or, vice-versa.Price to quality of food. I would have paid 8 for this. I only got 1 plate and asked if I could only be charged for one platebecause I didn't care for the food and they told me "no". Great comfort food. The mashed potatoes, gravy, and chicken fried steak are all very well made and delicious. There doesn't seem... to be a lot of special recipes or spices, just amazing practiced homey cooking. Read more
Laid back atmosphere. People are down to earth and friendly enough you feel as if you are in your own kitchen. Been eating here... since they opened and will continue to eat here as long as they are cooking. Read more
This is an absolute hidden gem. Staff was so friendly, we were not aware that they were closing soon. And the still served us... and never once rushed us. As for the food?.my wife and I shared a mushroom swiss burger and fries. Hands down one of the bestburgers I have come across. And the fries were so perfectly fried. Went for lunch and soooo glad we did!!! Such a nice place with great people, love the country decor. And the food- oh my- just... what we like! Good cooking! Had lunch special chicken fried steak(and I asked before I ordered it was NOT pre made frozen- theyhand battered themselves) and it was HUGE!!! And delicious, as were the carrots and mashed potatoes. Just driving through the city and found this place. As soon as we walked in we just got looks from everyone. I hate to say this... but I dont know if its because the color of our skin or because they just don't care for non locals. People just kept staring atus. At first the older lady (waitress) was the same towards us but she got nicer the longer we stayed. She seems rude or meanbut I think that's just how she comes across. I got a regular cheeseburger and my husband got the double meat cheeseburger withcounty fried bacon. Both burgers came with fries and they were very good. The burgers were very good as well even though themeat seems to be frozen patties. My husband loves extra lemons with his tea and finally we found a place that understands themeaning of extra. One thing we will say is be careful when paying. Make sure they are charging you only for what you ordered.They seemed to over charge us for something, not sure what it was though.
