We stopped here before taking the ferry back to Woods Hole. I wasn't paying attention, and tried to order from the breakfast... menu, and when I was told they were done serving breakfast, I panicked and said, "a sandwich? like ham and cheese, lettuce andtomato?" They didn't have that on the menu, so they improvised. I think they made me a BLT and added ham and put it on aciabatta bun. FRIENDS. IT WAS SO GOOD. I took a bite, said "This is so good!" and then I would take another bite and I would sayit again and I ain't even embarrassed, that sandwich was great Read more

I usually love visiting the black dog, well, anything. I just have a very warm view of the brand. However, this visit was... terrible. There was a line and it moved pretty quickly. So that was good. The counter staff that waited on me lookedmiserable. I ordered a muffin and large coffee. She charged me, got my muffin and placed it on the counter in front of me andjust walked away. I assumed to get my coffee. Then I saw her walking up and placing 2 small coffees further down, at anotherparty of the counter. Then I noticed a large coffee sitting there. I asked the the other counter staff, "should I be waitingsomewhere else for my coffee?" She was pleasant and said, "oh yes, it's over there," pointing toward where I saw the coffeesitting. I walked over, hung around and never heard anyone call my name or anything. So, I asked another customer, "how do youknow which coffee is yours?" He responded, "we just guessed." So, I did the same and took the one that had been sitting on thecounter. Then I go the the fixing station. It was dirty, most things were empty except the overspill bucket which was nearlyoverflowing itself. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I'll definitely not be going back. I'll walk up to Mocha Mott'snext time. Read more

Great location and a nice vibe. They had closed the kitchen a bit early so my partner wasn't able to order. The coffee and... croissant I had were good, nothing special but not bad! Read more

The service is terrible this year. The teens that are working there aren?t interested in helping customers. I stood in line for... five minutes before someone from the kitchen reminded the cashiers to get back to work. They didn?t have skim milk or know howto make an iced coffee. Way too much milk even though I asked for light milk. They didn?t have large straws for the large cups. The food took forever. I would skip it if you can! Waterside Cafe up the street is excellent. The bakery definitely benefits from the iconic Black Dog name and the amazing fortune for being the first eatery you see coming... off the ferry. But, as many know, that convenience usually comes at the cost of lower quality of just about everything. Pleasekeep in mind, everyone's tastes are individual to themselves. However, we found our experience here as one that could have beenmuch better. We find the coffee to be weak. My husband got hot coffee (points for temperature) and I got iced (major points forhaving simple syrup, although the ratio is off so it's more like sweet water than syrup. If you like your coffee sweet, beprepared to put a lot in there). My husband ordered an everything bagel with butter. He was given cream cheese instead because(not kidding) they were out of butter. Being located 50 feet from Stop and Shop, this was pretty disappointing. But on the otherhand, given the poor bagel reviews, maybe he dodged a bullet. He got a coffeecake muffin instead (which was totally fine butnothing to rave about). I got a chocolate croissant, which looked like it would have been good if it was heated up but given tome cold... It was a hard, albeit sweet, not terribly enjoyable croissant with ends that were so hard and burnt you could onlyreally eat the middle. The staff was nice, especially at the end of one of the hardest seasons imaginable. Dealing with loadsof tourists streaming off ferries every day can't be easy even in a good year. All in all, my recommendation is if you needsomething to tide yourself over this is a fine place to go. But if you're going to be cranky about botched results or you'repicky by nature either go somewhere else or know what you're getting into before ordering and then don't be a jerk if it's notup to your standards.
