Edit October 2022: I was there recently and am pleased to say I had a great experience. We had asked if there was still a... separation of the room menus and if it mattered where we sat. I was told we could order off whatever menu we wanted and sit inwhichever room. We decided to sit in the dining room and had no issue ordering off both pub and dining room menus with no issuewith our party of 4. The food was phenomenal as always and am looking forward to coming back again soon! Original reviewbelow: Let me preface this and say I’ve been coming to Desmond’s for nearly a decade and have never had one bad meal. I amwriting this review based on my frustration with a new policy the restaurant has put in place. The issue I have with therestaurant’s new policy is that they split the restaurant menu into 2 rooms, the pub area and the main dining room. In the pubyou have access to the full menu, whereas in the dining room the menu is cut almost in half. You are now only allowed to orderoff the menu of the room you are sitting in, whereas before you could order anything from both rooms. I was there tonight andwanted to try some of the new appetizers but was told I would not be allowed to if I sat in the dining room. The pub area wasquite busy and loud and I prefer the quiet ambience of the dining room when I come down for a meal and it felt unfair that Icould not order what I wanted because I wasn’t sitting in the correct room. The hostess was not nice. She said we could not sit in the main dining room. I insisted that we always do. So she asked and they... said yes. I think the hostess thought we couldn’t afford to sit in the dining room. We were dressed better than some people inthere already. Did not make sense. Then when asked where the staple host was (Daniel) She said he left over 5 months ago. Wewere in the restaurant in July and August and he was there. The waiter confirmed. Some of the food was microwaved and had to bereturned. We said we didn’t want another and they brought one out and it wasn’t much better than the first. But A goteffort. The Mahi Tacos were very fishy but this fish is not a fishy tasting fish. May have been old. The service was ok. We hadto ask for water. The waiter was very nice. We’ve been coming here for years and since Daniel left it’s going downhill. Read more
Party of seven- including three teens. Only had water refilled once and cups and plates littered the table for more than half... the meal. The food was ok to good. My short ribs were tasty but incredibly dry. What really made me mad was that the ‘servicecharge’ aka tip was $49 for terrible service. My whole group had the worst cocktails we have ever had, my martini was awful, tasted like straight vermouth, our sidecar was... terrible, don't think the bartender knew was a sidecar was, and not complaining about the gun and tonics but they were straightgin. I don't think the bartender was actually a bartender so hopefully it's not a normal occurrence Edit - after first barvisit, went again and the experience was much better, good food and drinks. Was expecting the buffet to be bigger, to be honest wasn't to impressed. For the price I would probably go else where.... Definitely not at the top of our list to return. Read more
Had Thanksgiving catered from Desmond's. The food was absolutely superb. All my guests were raving about the meal Everyone had... seconds and I still had enough for leftovers. John and the entire staff did an excellent job. Wish you were doing somethingsimilar for Christmas! Read more
