Had Father's day lunch here and it was pretty good! Ordered the snow crab legs and we were pleased with them. Brisket was... delicious and the rib tips were nice and smokey tasting. We stopped for Dinner after researching restaurants in the area a decided this was one we definitely had to try. Their desserts... are amazing! We had the Turtle cheesecake and salted caramel bacon cheesecake. We didn't try the BBQ but we did try the seafood.The crab stuffed shrimp was my personal favorite, and they were so good. The Po Boy sandwiches were huge and delicious. Weordered a seafood boil with a few different items and that was a little disappointing. The crab legs were extremely soft andwaterlogged, to the point you could twist them to wring the water out - without breaking the leg at all. Always friendly people when I stop here to eat or pick up food. No exceptions this time. They have many selections to choose... from including posted specials. I ordered food, sat down and everything came out pretty quickly. Great portions and very goodtasting. There were a few overcooked sides mixed in with the fresh tasting ones - only reason for the 4 stars. Read more
It's been a long rollercoaster ride for me with the Captain and I feel I owe them an apology. Years ago when they were still at... the old Sheridan location I wrote a terrible review saying that "folks, I just don't get it", well now I do. I couldn'tunderstand at the time what all the hoopla was about with the food here, and the fact of the matter is, I just hadn't tried theright things and I certainly was being overly critical, and for that, I do sincerely apologize. As it stands today, I firmlyplace Captain Porky's high on my list of "best Lake County restaurants" and for having the best hand breaded shrimp in LakeCounty. And I especially love them with that Cajun seasoning! The aquarium smoked ribs and tips are also really good, and thehouse mild sauce is well matched to the meat. Good barbecue and seafood restaurant. Barbecue ribs are pre-cooked and served at room temperature. It would be much better if... served hot. Seafood is cooked to order. Love the fried mushroom. Fast casual dining. Overall good flavors. The only drawback isthat the bbq ribs are cold. Read more
I hate when I spend money on food I don?t enjoy. I used to frequent captain porky?s a lot pre-pandemic. I always used to get a... fried shrimp salad. It?s used to be delicious. Shrimp fried perfectly. Last night I was very disappointed. I placed a pick uporder last night for the salad, a fried shrimp po boy & a sausage sandwich. I don?t know if the batter for the shrimp has beenchanged but last night all of our shrimp were fried in this real heavy white batter that had some soft flour spots that weren?tfried well. Very weird. Not the shrimp I remembered. The po boy had no sauce on it and we were given cocktail sauce. For a poboy. The fries were so greasy. This is how they showed up. I didn?t get a pic of the shrimp because I covered them in saladdressing. I paid for a full order and couldn?t eat them all because the batter was such a weird texture.
