A beautiful place with an upcountry feel on the road between the airport and south / west Maui. It's located at the Mill House,... an old sugar plantation complete with old industrial gear wheels, ponds with ducks and chickens. There is even an old train inthe dining room. Don't let the Cafe name fool you, this is quite an upscale full service restaurant. We stopped here for lunchon the way back to the airport at the end of our vacation, but it would also be a relaxing stop after your flight at thebeginning of your vacation. It's maybe 15 minutes from the airport. The food was great and the service too. I would recommendmaking a reservation. They generally seem to like reservations at restaurants on Maui and you seem to get better service and abetter table if you do. We had a great view across the pond to the cloud covered mountains. I will definitely go back to theCafe O'Lei on my next visit to Maui and I recommend that you go too. Read more

What a cool place! The grounds are gorgeous with so many tropical plants and old sugar mill equipment worked into the... landscaping. So unique! There’s a neat gift shop that sells local coffee and farmer’s market produce as well as littleKnick-knacks and Hawaiian themed things. There’s a zip line course as well. For the restaurant, we didn’t have areservation, but they texted us when a table had opened up, which gave us time to meander the grounds. The food was reallyexcellent and we loved everything we ordered. Definitely visit this place if you’re nearby. It’s worth it! Read more

This place is amazing. the grounds are a repurposed sugar mill and they have kept most of the original infrastructure. So, you... can see old mill work wheels and machinery made into waterfalls, items of interest, etc. There is plenty of outdoor seating withstunning views of the pond and mountains. Plus, they have a really fat, healthy duck population. The food was great and theservice amazing. While most of the menu is meat-centric, they have vegan Brussels sprouts (amazing), Caesar salad, and eggplantif you're looking to do pure vegan. If you eat fish, there's loads of options: the papaya salad with shrimp was one of the bestsalads I've ever eaten. Read more

Fantastic menu with local fish, poultry, and beef favorites. We had lunch and the dessert and cocktail/wine menus were also... comprehensive. Service was warm and friendly. Atmosphere and property are beautiful. A bit windy and not inexpensive, but worththe visit. And delicious food. Read more

Phenomenal! Great scenery, food, and staff. The ambiance of Cafe O’Lei was amazing. Food was reasonable priced and everything... was delicious. This was easily one of the best places to eat at in Hawaii. I definitely recommend eating here! Read more

Beautiful location and beautiful scenery around. The restaurant is surrounded by a plantation and there are a lot of different... types of vegetation around. The food is also tasty. We ordered the pork bao and crab cakes and it was super delicious. The porkbelly entree was very dry and did not meet our expectations. The cocktails were not that great though. Read more

The gardening and landscape are absolutely stunning. We wished we had arrived earlier to enjoy looking at everything. The food... and service were nothing remarkable. There were a lot of hosts, but not enough wait staff. Maybe we just caught them on an offnight? The drinks were very good and so were the ahi nachos (I will highly recommend these). The main course, however, wasunderwhelming. We both ordered the chef special, swordfish, and found it to be okay. The desserts also fell flat for us. Wetried the pineapple upside-down cake and the floating islands, but found both to be just okay. The food is quality and theprices are reasonable, but we had higher expectations to be wowed by the food. It seemed like they were short-staffed in someareas, so maybe we just had a lackluster experience as a result. It's worth coming here to see the gardens and staying for atleast a cocktail and appetizer. Read more
