This little restaurant located adjacent to Waimea Plantation Cottages has a delightful welcoming atmosphere with lots of outdoor... seating for the beautiful Kaua'i nights. The food is good quality, the beer selection just as good with the "pay by the pour"concept which is kinda cool. They also have cornhole set up on one side so bring your friends, eat good food, drink and play. Ifyou're looking for a laid back, casual place after a long travel day or a day of hiking in the canyon or beaches this is a greatoption. Very casual and enjoyable. The only thing to be aware of is that at the time of this review Hawaii is still rebuildingfrom the pandemic (and it is an island by the way) so inventory can run low. The restaurant was out of pizza dough so no pizzaor bread options, and a few of the beer choices were also out. It's not a reflection of poor service, as you'll find similarstruggle all over the island. I'm sure with time and tourism picking back up things will get better. The kind waitress told usthat our timing of our visit was literally just as businesses were reopening and lots of rebuilding yet to do to get the islandsback to where they were prepandemic. Do order: the chicken plate with chili and cornbread (instead of rice). The cornbread comes with honey and butter and is so... delicious and goes well with the chili. It?s a nice alternative to the rice I?ve been eating all over the island. We also gotthe loaded fries and would totally order them again. The atmosphere is awesome. The back porch looks out onto the Waimeacottages grounds and the ocean. We made friends with a little kitty on the back patio. There is also beer on tap which you payfor by the ounce using a wristband scanning system. We didn?t do it so I can?t comment on it. Read more
Ordered the chicken for two, which was actually a lot of food for me and my girlfriend. For the chicken for two You get a 1/2... chicken, scoops of brown rice, and chili. The chicken was so moist, tender, and smoky. I mean the chicken breast was so juicyand succulent, I thought I was eating the thigh. the They have barbecue sauce but you do not need it. The chicken is thatflavorful! chili was okay and accompanied the meal well. So good we ate it again the next day. Read more
Good food and relaxed vibe. The salad was fresh and pizza was perfect. The smoked meat was a little dry. Beautiful views!
Ran out of chicken at 2:30 PM on a Tuesday. The Sampler Plate wasn?t very impressive - beef and pork were chewy, ribs were ok.... The Loaded Fries were good, fries were crispy. Best part was the Barrel Taps, try any beer they have on tap and pay for only theamount you dispense (each beer has its own $ per ounce) - I had fun trying some new booze. Read more
Visited two locations on Kauai due to the amazing BBQ. Hanalei and Waimea locations both had comparable excellent food but very... different settings/atmospheres. This rating is focused on the Waimea location at the Waimea Plantation Cottages which was aformer working plantation. The grounds and main bldg with this restaurant are exceptionally well maintained and provide for avery pleasant dining experience. Note that all food is ordered at entrance by the smokers and you select your own table?nowaiter at table. They actually slowly smoke their meats on site which is part of the reason for the amazing flavor. Meats areserved dry and you add the sauce of your choice. UPDATE: I just spoke the owner, Clyde I believe. Sorry I should have written it down. He was super professional and apologized... for what happened. He also offered me a full refund and a gift card. He knew I was a loyal customer and responded with greatappreciation and willingness to fix the issue. As a supervisor myself, I can appreciate that things happen. What matters is howit?s handled! How he handled it was above and beyond! Very appreciative! Ordered pizzas. Have ordered from here before, manytimes. Pizza?s were undercooked and sloppy. Toppings did not match the description from the menu. Slices were terrible, not evensizes. Paid for a pepperoni pizza and asked for half cheese. But the rest of the pepperoni clearly was not put on the otherside. Maybe what passes for $80 dollars worth on the mainland, but not for a local family who can only afford eating out once amonth. I should have checked before I left, but I was rushing to trick or treat with my family. Disappointed and will notreturn. Read more
